We were thrilled to kick off our 3rd Annual CESA 7 School Psychologist Network on Friday with our largest group yet! We have 50 school psychologists and related professionals representing 22 districts registered, participating in person or virtually to accommodate farther-away districts.

We were excited to welcome Heidi Siebert, Director of Special Education, as our guest speaker. Heidi shared valuable insights into serving as the LEA representative as a school psychologist, emphasizing the importance of communication and collaboration in supporting students, families, and school teams.

Registration is NOW OPEN for the WiMLSS-Behavior Universal Booster at Kohler Elementary School! 📣

This free, one-day training is designed for school teams ready to review and refine their Tier 1 (Universal) behavior supports and strengthen their PBIS systems to better meet the needs of all students.

This training is for schools with prior WiMLSS training and some level of implementation that want to take the next step in strengthening their universal supports.

Last Friday, we had a productive day at our CESA 7 PAC Meeting!

We kicked off the day with our Legislative Breakfast, connecting with area legislators to discuss critical topics impacting public education across our region.

Adam Jacobi, Executive Director of the Wisconsin Interscholastic Speech & Dramatic Arts Association (WISDAA), also joined us and shared great details about the Wisconsin Interscholastic Speech and Dramatic Arts Association program and its impact on our students.

The Wisconsin School Psychologists Association (WSPA) Conference was held in the beautiful CESA 7 region of Elkhart Lake on October 1st and 2nd!

On Thursday, Dr. Becky Steensen, CESA 7 School Psychologist, and Katie Tennessen, CESA 7 Behavior Specialist, helped kick off the conference by presenting “Beyond the FBA: Understanding the Why Behind Behavior.” Participants were encouraged to look beyond the surface of behavior and ask why—exploring what may be underneath the iceberg and learning about neuroscience-informed approaches to better understand and support students.

The session wrapped up by inviting participants to reflect on and connect their new learning, then quite literally let it take flight with paper airplanes! ✈️

On Friday, participants learned from internationally recognized psychologist and author Dr. Ross Greene about Collaborative & Proactive Solutions and the powerful philosophy that “kids do well if they can.”

A special shout-out to CESA 7 School Psychologists Lili Vehrs and Mackenzie Frankland, who also attended the conference!

We are grateful for opportunities like the WSPA Conference to learn, connect, and bring new ideas back to the schools and students we serve.
