This morning, we welcomed 12 volunteers from Stantec who spent the morning helping remove buckthorn at Baird Creek.

The volunteers worked alongside our summer land management interns, tackling invasive species and making a real impact. It was a great opportunity to get outside!

Thank you, Stantec, for spending the morning with us and supporting the ongoing restoration work at Baird Creek. We appreciate all of your hard work!

🐸✨ Some of our best environmental educators are still in elementary school!

This week, our summer campers had the opportunity to share their discoveries with the younger children from Little Explorers during a visit to the frog pond. After catching frogs, tadpoles, and fish, the campers proudly demonstrated how to safely observe and handle wildlife.

We are so proud of our campers for being such patient, enthusiastic, and caring mentors. The future of conservation is looking bright! 💚🌿

There have been some exciting updates at Paul Hartman Prairie this spring!

One of the biggest milestones is the arrival of our new storage shed. Thanks to everyone who supported our campaign last fall, this much-needed addition is now in place. A special thank you goes to board members and volunteers Steve Lambert, Dan Skaletski, and Jeff Parish, who dedicated more than 24 hours to installing the shed, building a ramp and steps, and adding features to help protect it for years to come.

We would also like to thank Van Rite Plumbing for bringing out an excavator and helping prepare the foundation for the shed, and Kropp Trucking Inc. Sand & Gravel for generously donating gravel for the project. Community support like this helps make improvements such as these possible.

Visitors may also notice several other improvements, including new Purple Martin bird houses, updated entrance signage, and a new culvert on the east side of the prairie that improves access to the boardwalk.

If you haven't visited lately, now is a great time to stop by and enjoy the prairie. Wildflowers are beginning to bloom, pollinators are active, and the boardwalk and gazebo provide the perfect place to explore and relax.

And don't forget to save the date for our annual Sunset Meadow Mingle on August 19!

If you've visited Paul Hartman Prairie recently, you may have noticed a beautiful new sign welcoming visitors from the road.

We recently installed this new sign to help make the property more visible and inviting for the community. We would also like to thank the Luxemburg-Casco High School shop class for their assistance in repairing the large flower sign, helping preserve a familiar landmark at the prairie.

Be sure to stop by and check out the updates the next time you're in the area!

A big thank you to Board Member Dan for designing and installing six new dog waste bag stations throughout the Baird Creek Greenway.

These stations are now available at several trail access points to help keep our trails clean and enjoyable for everyone. We also welcome community support by recycling clean plastic bags from home to help keep the stations stocked.
