20 students and 2 teachers from the Gymnasium Bondenwald are spending the next few weeks here at Bay Port as part of the GAPP Program, which our students took part in this Summer.

German Club is organizing a Pirate Time "Meet and Greet" ice cream social on Thursday for students to meet our guests from Hamburg.

GAPP is a program that has been at Bay Port for almost 20 years, and was started by Frau Kramer and Frau Hussli, when they began an exchange back in 2006. The program was on pause for a few years and we're very happy to have brought it back and we look forward to continuing their legacy and keeping the program going.

On Friday of this week, all German students will be presented with information about a great opportunity to host a student for about 2 1/2 weeks this fall. Please see the following QR codes to learn more information about the GAPP Program, and sign-up if interested.

The Bay Port German Club is looking at taking a group to a Wisconsin Herd game. The Wisconsin Herd, the G-League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks is hosting a series of German Nights this season. We are looking at going on either March 15th or March 16th. We need to see if there is enough interest, so please see the QR code to fill out the interest form (an actual sign up will be sent out later.) This form has also been sent to Schoology. Students will need to be logged into their HSSD email to access the form.

Last weekend, the Bay Port German Club took 50 students down to Chicago to explore the Chicago Christkindlmarkt. The Christkindlmarkt is an important tradition in Germany around the holiday season. It features many traditional food and gifts from around the German speaking world. Students also spent part of the day shopping and eating some delicious Chicago food.

Join German Club for a celebration of holiday traditions from around the world. Spanish and French Club are also hosting a similar celebration and students can experience all three during Pirate Time. All 3 club celebrations will be in the 2 red pods. Sign up!!

The next German Club meeting will be November 8th. This meeting will feature Dr. Jennifer Ham, Professor of German at UW-Green Bay. She will be speaking to us about the history of German immigration in Wisconsin and the contributions of German immigrants to the area.

There will be a light snack provided.
