I have the greatest admiration for those who work full-time in Memory Care. The patience, dedication and overarching love they have to show this population of people astounds me! Here’s one of the best!

To say I adore my job is a huge understatement! Every day I see miracles and get to bring joy into the hearts of the people I work with. How did I get so lucky?

I was somehow left off the schedule at one of my regular sites yesterday. It was so beautiful to see these seniors go around knocking on doors saying “Lindy is here!”. They rallied a big group for Music Therapy!

Guess who’s excited about introducing Music Therapy with the Aphasia support group?? This girl! My dream is to some day run an Aphasia choir! 🎵

Aphasia is a language disorder that affects a person’s ability to communicate. It is caused by damage to the parts of the brain responsible for language, most commonly after a stroke, but it can also result from a traumatic brain injury, brain tumor, or certain neurological diseases.

Music therapy isn’t just for the client—it’s often for the family, too.

During a recent memory care session, a son joined his mother as we sang, played instruments, and moved scarves together. Watching her engage with the music brought tears to his eyes and joy to both of them.

Moments like these remind me that music creates connection, not only for those living with memory loss, but for the people who love them. 🎵

Some people enter our lives and leave fingerprints on our hearts forever. Today I reunited with one of my memory care clients after two months apart, and the moment she saw me, she cried tears of joy. In a world where memories can fade, connection still finds a way to shine through.

There are certain souls we meet that feel instantly familiar — like soul sisters somehow finding each other again. I’m endlessly grateful for the beautiful reminder today that love, music, connection, and human presence can reach places words sometimes cannot.

Music evokes emotions and memories. Wildfire by Michael Martin Murphy provided some much needed tears and conversation from a senior adult client about a horse she dearly loved and misses.
