This week, our children got creative with a fun art and science experiment! They designed their very own rock pets, added chia seeds for hair, and are learning how something that starts as a nonliving rock can help us explore the world of living things.

As we watch our chia seeds sprout and grow, we’re discovering what plants need to live, grow, and thrive. A little creativity, a little science, and a whole lot of fun! 💚

Watching this little boy work with the Montessori Color Tablets may look simple, but there’s so much happening beneath the surface!

As he matches and distinguishes colors, he is developing visual discrimination, concentration, coordination, and attention to detail. These hands-on materials help children refine their ability to observe differences and make thoughtful choices.

Most importantly, he’s learning through his own hands, at his own pace-building confidence and independence along the way. ❤️

With the Pink Sound Boxes, children listen carefully to find two boxes that make the same sound. This helps strengthen their ability to hear and distinguish sounds—an important foundation for letter recognition and early reading.

Today our little chefs made applesauce completely from scratch!👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

The children washed the apples, helped cut them, added their spices, and enjoyed watching their hard work turn into delicious homemade applesauce. 😋🍎

This is what hands-on learning is all about! Along the way, the children practiced practical life skills, independence, coordination, and patience and got to enjoy the tasty reward at the end!

There is so much happening behind those happy faces as these little girls work with the Large Math Work, or Bank Game, in our Montessori classroom. 🧮💗

They aren’t just learning numbers on a page. They are experiencing quantity with their whole bodies and senses. The size and weight of the materials help them see and feel the difference between units, tens, hundreds, and thousands. A thousand becomes more than a number…it becomes something they can physically hold and understand.

This hands-on experience makes abstract math concrete while building concentration, coordination, and mathematical thinking.

And alongside the math, something just as important is growing: confidence. 🌱

With each challenge, children begin to develop that inner belief: “I am capable. I can figure this out. I can learn something that feels hard.”

That is the kind of confidence we hope to nurture not only confident mathematicians, but confident children who trust in their own ability to learn and grow. ✨

September is bringing all things apples into our classroom—and we’re using them for so much more than just a tasty snack! ❤️🍏

Our children are exploring counting, quantities, numbers, and fractions through hands-on Montessori work. Using apple-themed materials alongside sandpaper numbers, they can connect the number they see with the quantity they count, making math something they can touch, see, and experience.

🌎✨ Our Little Explorers Are Taking on the Universe!🚀🪐

Our classroom has been filled with BIG questions, curious minds, and a whole lot of cosmic creativity! 🌙⭐️

We’ve been talking all about the universe, our solar system, and the amazing planets that make up our little corner of space.🌌

Then it was time to create our very own planets! 🪐🎨

Our little artists used paint and a magnet to move a small rock around, watching as it pushed and pulled through the paint to create all kinds of unique patterns and textures. 🧲🎨✨

The best part? We never quite knew what each planet would look like until we were finished!🤩

Every child created something completely different…just like every planet in our universe is unique. 💫

A little science, a little art, a lot of imagination, and SO much fun! ❤️🪐

Reading to your child is about so much more than learning letters and words. When children grow up surrounded by books, stories, and conversations, they learn that reading is a natural and meaningful part of life.

If they see you enjoying a book, they learn that books are something to enjoy.
If you make time to read together, they learn that reading is important.
If you make reading a warm, connected experience, they learn that learning can feel safe, joyful, and exciting.

Children learn so much from what we do, not just what we say.

So pick up a book, snuggle close, and read together. ❤️

💚Mademoiselle Rainbolt’s Root System Presentation!

Today, Mademoiselle Rainbolt shared a lesson on the fascinating world beneath our feet! 🌿 Our Montessori children loved learning about the important role roots play in helping plants grow, thrive, and stay healthy.

Parents, keep an eye out for Root System booklets coming home! 📚🌱 We encourage you to look through them with your child and ask them about what they learned. It’s a wonderful way to extend their Montessori learning from the classroom into your home!
