Today was a day of firsts and lasts. Happy LAST first day of school for our seniors and happy FIRST day of high school for our freshmen! It’s going to be a great year, Spartans!

Welcome to the Greeley West class of 2030 for freshman orientation today!

Opportunities to learn continue throughout the summer! This week, students across Colorado explored future careers, science activities, and artistic ventures:

☀️ Rangely School District RE-4 started their second round of summer camp sessions where students explore hands-on activities in math, science, and reading;

🖼️ Avila Twyeffort from Walsh School District visited the Natural History Museum in Washington D.C. before attending the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) conference;

🪟 Greeley-Evans School District 6 highlighted their summer interns like Cesar from Greeley West High School who is working with Moffat Glass to expand his skills in architecture; and

🎭 Teachers and alumni from Ascent Classical Academy of Northern Colorado presented a special concert of "1776" for students and the community to celebrate America's 250th anniversary.

We cannot wait to welcome our students back for a great school year next Monday, Aug. 10! Go Be Great!

Spartan Future Business Leaders at the National Leadership Conference! Our students represented GWHS incredibly well at the National Leadership Conference in San Antonio, Texas. They competed alongside more than 14,000 high school students from across the United States and Canada, and we couldn’t be more proud of their hard work, professionalism, and dedication.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this opportunity possible. We truly appreciate the support of District 6, GWHS, The Success Foundation, and the Delia & John W. Haefli Opportunity Fund for making this trip a reality for our students.

Please join me in congratulating Dakota Lanning on being selected as a 2026 Colorado GROW Youth Institute Delegate to attend the World Food Prize Foundation’s Global Youth Institute in Des Moines, Iowa this October.

This is a highly competitive honor that recognizes students who have demonstrated exceptional interest in agriculture, food security, and global issues. As a delegate, Dakota will join students from across the United States and around the world to collaborate with fellow young leaders, World Food Prize Laureates, researchers, and professionals working to address global food security challenges.

The Global Youth Institute is held in conjunction with the World Food Prize and the Norman E. Borlaug International Dialogue, one of the world’s premier conferences focused on ending hunger and improving global food systems.

Dakota will represent Greeley West High School, our community, and Colorado at this prestigious international event in October.
