Meet the Makers: This week we are featuring student and community member Scott Lorenz of DSLorenz Clayworks. Scott often claims, Antoni Gaudí, the Spanish sculpture and architect, as the inspiration for his forms and textures. Some of his work is large and sculptural and some are small and functional, but all are painstakingly textured and assembled piece by piece! Scott brings his carefully curated aesthetics from years of running his art gallery, Max’ims to all of his ceramic creations. He will be displaying and selling his wares and The Clay Center Winter Sale, event details in the final picture!

Meet the Makers:
Kat Henry’s interest in sculpture lead her to study studio ceramics at the University of Northern Colorado. She graduated in 2020 and now creates ceramics at The Clay Center. Kat’s aesthetic blends surrealism with elements inspired by nature and textiles. She enjoys combining sculptural and functional work. Her creations are often based on her mood and surroundings rather than a predetermined plan, resulting in whimsical one of a kind pieces. Her planters are available for purchase at Horsetooth Stem and Roots and she will be selling a variety of works at The Clay Center’s Winter Sale this December! More sale details and artist features to come!

Meet the Makers: Sue .e.smith has been a model student at the Clay Center since 2015! She studied fine arts at The University of Northern Colorado, but life pulled her in a different direction until she was gifted a session of pottery classes at The Clay Center. She pays meticulous detail to her work, often adding hand carved details or multiple layers of hand painted glazes.
