Today was our last full day in Saltpond, and we spent time learning about the history and culture.

In the morning, we visited the historic Cape Coast Castle, where we learned about the history of the transatlantic slave trade. Walking through the castle and hearing the stories of those who passed through its doors was an emotional experience that gave us a better understanding of Ghana's history.

In the afternoon, the mood shifted as we celebrated Ghanaian culture through traditional African dancing and drumming. The music, energy, and joy were contagious and we loved the invitation to join in.

The last three days have been HEAVY for our group.

Our nightly reflections have brought tears more than once—tears as we realize how much we have in the United States that we often take for granted, and tears because of the incredible kindness, hospitality, gratitude, and acceptance shown to us by the people of Ghana.

Today was a much-needed day of adventure and fun. We spent the morning hiking through a national park, crossing seven breathtaking canopy bridges high above the rainforest. Afterward, we headed to the beach where we relaxed in the sunshine, played beach volleyball, and enjoyed time together.

We ended the evening attending Catholic Mass, where once again we were welcomed with open arms.

This trip continues to challenge our perspectives, fill our hearts, and remind us that some of life's greatest lessons come from the people we meet along the way. ❤️🇬🇭
