Yay! Youth Art Month!

Today is March 1st and it kicks off Youth Art Month, Music in Our Schools Month, as well as Theatre in Our Schools Month! Wow! Youth Art Month began in 1961 with Music in Our School following in 1973. I was unable to find a date for the beginning of Theatre in Our Schools Month, but boy are we glad they are part of the Arts with the capital "A!" The Arts are integral to educating the whole child and we take this time to honor our programs and our students.

YOUTH ART MONTH RECEPTION
March 1st from 4-6PM @ the GF Public Library

On Wednesday three of the GFPS art teachers hung over 175 works of art from all of our twenty GFPS schools K-12 at our public library downtown to celebrate our student artists and art education in our schools. Tonight, the library will host a reception beginning at 4PM. At 5 PM there will be a proclamation and short presentation. The reception will end at 6PM but the show will be up through the end of April.

I hope you can come out tonight to show some love for our student artists and our art educators who do amazing work. We have twelve highly qualified art teachers who service over 10,000 students across the electric city.
