Alumni Spotlight:

Elora Shepherd (formely Dover) is a 2019 graduate of Great Falls College who earned an Associate of Arts Degree.

“I was involved in the student government and enjoyed being part of the campus community,” she said. “I love being able to put the artistic skills I learned at Great Falls College to use. Before attending Great Falls College, I had never worked with acrylic paints, and now they are my primary medium. I also developed a passion for photography through an elective course taught by Nancy Jones. Thanks to those skills, I've had opportunities to photograph several small events. These days, I take on commissioned artwork and do side work customizing Magic: The Gathering cards. I'm hoping to bring in a few more commissions so I can eventually set up a small art studio where I can better focus on my passions and creative projects.”

Whether you graduated in 2019, 2026 or back when we were the Vo-Tech or C.O.T or if you earned a certificate or took some classes before transferring, you are River Otter alums to us.

Congratulations to Dr. Amy Pearson on an incredible achievement! 🎉

This summer, Amy, a communications faculty member, completed Montana State University's Graduate Certificate in Mental Health Support, earning 12 graduate-level credits through the Department of Health & Human Development.

Through the program, Amy strengthened her mental health literacy, gaining a deeper understanding of common mental health conditions, treatment approaches, the impact of stigma and the critical role that Adverse Childhood Experiences and social isolation can play in long-term mental health challenges and su***de risk. One of the most meaningful lessons she took away is that connection and belonging are fundamental to well-being.

Armed with this new knowledge, Amy is committed to making a difference in our campus community by actively listening, connecting individuals to resources, promoting mental health literacy and contributing to the Mental Health & Wellbeing Implementation Team. Her goal is to help foster a campus culture that prioritizes the emotional well-being of students, faculty and staff.

Amy also plans to apply these lessons in her own life by cultivating balance, practicing gratitude, and prioritizing joy.

Congratulations, Amy, for your dedication to supporting the mental health and well-being of others and for investing in lifelong learning that will positively impact your community for years to come!

Great Falls College partners with TimelyCare, a free virtual health and well-being platform available 24/7 to our students, faculty and staff, for those who would like support.
