Celebrate National 4-H Week! Did you know that Augusta Evans, Montana’s first 4-H extension leader, organized nearly 450 4-H clubs across the state in just two years? One of Montana’s first 4-H clubs is pictured here: the Girls’ Garden and Canning Club of Powell County give a demonstration on how to preserve vegetables in both glass and tin containers at the Western Montana Fair in Missoula in 1915. They used vegetables they had grown in their own gardens. Pictured are Opal Holt, Grace Holt, Anna Goldie, Margaret Ellsworth and Beth Evans.
Learn more about the history of Montana 4-H in an exhibit at the Montana Historical Society's Montana Heritage Center. The exhibit opens in December 2026, and an accompanying article will be featured in the Winter 2026 issue of Montana The Magazine of Western History.

Memberships are not considered active until ALL required items are completed!
To make sure your 4-H membership is active, please remember:
✅ Payment must be made
Your membership payment must be received before your membership is active.
✅ Member Code of Conduct
The 4-H member must complete and sign the Code of Conduct using their own name/signature.
✅ Parent/Guardian Code of Conduct
A parent/guardian must also complete and sign the required Code of Conduct.

All required documents must be placed in the appropriate section of ZSuite.
Please check ZSuite to make sure your payment and required Code of Conduct documents are complete and uploaded correctly.

Thank you for helping us start the new 4-H year with everything in place!

Remember: No payment + missing required documents = membership is not active.

Happy New 4-H Year!
Today is the first day of the new 4-H year! We’re excited for another year of learning, growing, and making memories together.
A couple of important reminders:
• Member Code of Conduct: Each 4-H member must sign the Code of Conduct with their own name. A parent/guardian signature does not replace the member’s signature.
• Membership Payment: Payment is available online. You can also mail your payment to the Extension Office or stop by the office to pay in person.
Office payment hours:
Tonight: 1:00–6:00 p.m.
Next Monday: until 4:30 p.m.
Next Tuesday: 1:00–5:30 p.m.
Thank you for helping us get the new 4-H year off to a great start! We’re looking forward to another year of Learn by Doing!

What a great night of celebration! Congratulations to all of our winners and every 4-H member who worked hard, learned new skills, and took on new challenges this year.
A special thank you to our amazing 4-H Ambassadors for truly learning by doing jumping in, working together, and learning to pivot when issues arise. Your leadership helped make Achievement Night a wonderful celebration!
