Monument Mountain, Lee and Hoosac Valley band students met Yo Yo Ma at their rehearsal today! The band students will be performing at Tanglewood On Parade Tuesday, August 4.

I’d like to recognize my assistant, Doreen Twiss for her 40 years of service to BHRSD on the occasion of her retirement. Doreen (pictured here with her uncle, Sonny Tarnawa, another longtime employee of the District), is an exceptional person who does extraordinary work in supporting students and families, faculty and staff, the District as a whole—and me. From navigating complex policies and managing the intricate election process for our School Committee members to overseeing critical purchasing and vital job postings plus a million other things, Doreen is the steady hand guiding us all. Her deep knowledge of local history, family connections, and how it all comes together is a huge asset that we call on daily. Should you see Doreen on campus or around town this summer, please congratulate her for the impact she made over the course of her epic career and on her well-deserved retirement! Congratulations MMRHS Ultimate Frisbee Club!

History has been made. This weekend, the Monument Ultimate Frisbee team traveled to their first-ever Massachusetts Division 2 State Championship and walked away with the state title! Battling cold rain and a season filled with injuries, the team swept Saturday’s pool play and fought through the knockout stages on Sunday. The final match against Boston College High School was a grueling, three hour test of the stamina and depth of the roster. Trailing for most of the game, MonU showed incredible composure, digging deep to make a late scoring run and secure a thrilling 15-13 victory. This historic milestone belongs to our deep, selfless team of players who gave their all, and to the incredible families who braved the elements to support the team all weekend long. Go MonU!
