Good info on getting replacement groceries due to power outages 💡

Severe storms rolled through parts of Kentucky last night. SNAP recipients who have lost food due to household disasters such as flooding or power outages lasting more than four hours from recent storms may be eligible for replacement benefits.

CALENDAR ALERT: This Saturday, August 15, is the LAST day to apply for Summer EBT (SEBT) for the 25/26 school year! Act now to determine if your student qualifies for a one-time $120 benefit to help buy healthy groceries as they return to school.

Check if you are already approved:
Many families do not need to apply. If your child was between the ages of 6 and 17 (as of August 1, 2025) and your household received SNAP, KTAP, or Kinship Care for at least one month since July 1, 2025, they were automatically approved and those benefits have already been issued on the head of household’s EBT card.

How to apply:
If your child wasn’t automatically enrolled, just make sure to submit your application by the August 15 deadline. Head over to kysebt.ky.gov to apply directly, or find the application through kynect at chfs.ky.gov/agencies/dcbs/dfs/pages/sebt.aspx.

Need help?:
If you have questions or need assistance with your application today or Friday, August 14 only, call 855-306-8959 or stop by your local Department for Community Based Services (DCBS) office. DCBS offices and the Call Center are closed Saturday.

Please note:
Summer EBT benefits expire 122 days after they are issued and available on your EBT card, even if the card has not been activated. Check your benefit availability date through your ebt EDGE account of by calling the phone number on the back of you EBT card and use the benefits before they expire.

If you are receiving back-to-school clothing assistance through my office and you have not received your clothing, you will most likely be getting a call on Monday, Aug 17 to pick up. I am calling several today and tomorrow to pick up items. There is a large list I’m working with and I appreciate your patience. Thank you-Katie 🩷
