CLC Grows Farm Market June-October, Thursdays 3PM-5:30PM, H Building Lawn

The field of horticulture is evolving quickly to address current
sustainability issues, whether in plant production, landscape
design or construction and management. The CLC Horticulture program has incorporated sustainability topics
across its curriculum to better prepare students for
employment in the green industry.We offer students five horticultural career programs and six certificate programs. Graduates enter a range of
employment including local landscape companies,
environmental consulting firms, municipalities and park
districts, public land management agencies, and
entrepreneurial ventures. We also have a well-equipped facility that is comprised of two large greenhouses, a floral design lab, a horticulture science lab and a landscape graphics lab. We also have an arboretum that we use as a living laboratory for many of our courses such as Tree and Shrub identification and our Sustainable Agriculture courses.

Just a reminder that today will be our last market of the season, and give you a heads up that it will be a very small amount of produce available and we will likely be sold out around 4. So if you want to come by and say hi and see what is available we will be in the greenhouse, but the weather has really tapped these plants out so don't get your hopes up too much!

Thank you again for all your support this season, and we hope to see you at the Urban Farm Center Grand Opening in Waukegan on October 17th, from 2-6. Part of the new facility will be a year-round market with produce from CLC and other local farms, so that is really exciting!

The easiest way to get tickets is to come by the farm market or Prairie Restaurant at Brae Loch, but email Melanie at [email protected] with any questions.

Our first market is this Thursday, June 11th from 3-5:30 at the Horticulture Building! Please note that we will not have a market on June 18th since CLC is closed for the Juneteenth holiday, but will be out there every Thursday after that until we run out of veggies in October. See you Thursday!

It's almost market time! Due to annoying spring weather, Melanie getting old, and student workers graduating, we are going to have the first market on the second Thursday of June, not the first week as we usually do. So mark your calendars for Thursday, June 11th from 3-5:30 at the H Building and get ready to feast on some salad greens 🥬🧅🫜
