Another PCCS Metamorphisis🐛🦋

This week, a couple of our summer staff spotted this beautiful Polyphemus moth caterpillar making its way across the sidewalk and safely placed it on a leaf in a nearby tree, out of harm's way, so it could continue its metamorphisis.

This bright green caterpillar has already spun its silky cocoon, and now the transformation begins!✨ While it will spend the the next several weeks tucked safely inside its cozy coccon, we are excited to watch its progress and hopefully get a chance to see this beautiful giant silk moth.

We are thrilled to be joining Grayslake Area Public Library and Community Consolidated School District 46 - CCSD 46 in clebration of Juneteenth at this years A Celebration of Freedom Walk.

Begins at the Grayslake Heritage Center Museum and travels through Central Park ending at the Library.

Celebrate Juneteenth with us this summer! Start at the Grayslake Heritage Center and Museum to explore a pop-up exhibit. Follow the walk through Central Park to learn Juneteenth history, then head to the library to enjoy a performance by L Theory Dance Collective, and hear our keynote speaker. Join us for a day of learning, reflection, and community.

Yesterday, our 5th-grade students had the privilege of hearing from one of our own alumni, a true Natural Leader who returned to campus to share her powerful journey of living with Tourette’s syndrome. Her remarkable and inspiring presentation not only educated our students, but also staff.
