INTRODUCING THE CLC DANCE LAB
Greetings Dancers,
Beginning this Sunday, the Dance & Yoga Department will initiate The Dance Lab. This is a project that will provide space and time for experimenting, learning, practicing, and asking questions about dance. The lab is about sharing and collaborating in various dance styles. It is an opportunity to learn choreography, practice teaching, or simply to connect with others. There is also the potential to create dances which can be performed at various CLC and community outreach events in the future. However, “performance” is not the primary focus of the lab. The Dance Lab is open to all present and past dance students, but participants must sign in on the CLC waiver before beginning participation.
Lab Process. Throughout the summer there will be 3 lab leaders (see below). Other members may come and go as needed. At the end of the summer session, we will reassess whether to continue in the fall and assign new lab leaders. Lab leaders are there to provide consistency and guidance, but the space is there for all to have equal opportunity to share. Everyone is expected to have respect for the cleanliness of the space (no food and drinks, other than water) and for keeping the music noise to a minimum.
Information:
Lab Leaders: Andy Anisco, Christine Chernoff, Giselle Leon,
Days: Sundays from May 28 through August 20 (for now)
Time: 2-3:30 pm
Where: P106
If you are interested in connecting and having fun in dance, just show up on Sunday.
Kind regards,
Valerie

Greetings CLC Dance Friends,
For anyone interested in some tips for becoming a film/TV choreographer check out the Los Angeles Times article at the link below. I particularly like the advice that I often give to my dance students: “The experts agree that it’s important to learn as many genres of dance as possible.”
