Class of '81... looks like our plans are off. There just was not enough support or commitment. Maybe next year we'll have a stronger interest in proceeding. So our involvement in the parade is off. And as far as Saturday night at Charlie's? There are still some people planning on showing up. At least, based on the limited responses we've received. And the Class of '80 is having a pub crawl in Grayslake, so there's a good chance of running into them too! Hopefully we'll see some of you Saturday evening.

We need your input.. it's falling to the committee as to whether or not we keep planning an event for this year. Let's make it easy. Post 1 word, yes or no. Would you attend a get together at Charlie's if there is a mask mandate in place?

So.... lots of talk about mask mandates making a comeback. Some concerns about whether the bars are going to end up closing again. We need opinions... do we go ahead with the reunion plans? Some people are flying in.. we still don't know if they're going ahead with the parade (the school hasn't gotten back to us yet). What are all of your opinions? If there is a mask mandate, will you still come? Should we delay until next year??

There are a lot of people that are unable to make it to the reunion this time around. And we thought possibly, setting up a live stream of the event would be a good idea. It would enable those who can't attend, a chance to have a peek into the evening. HOWEVER.... none of us on the Committee have this particular skill set, lol. So the call is going out to all of you... Is there anyone that knows how to make this happen? Has the equipment to make this happen? And would be willing to make this happen? Please reach out to one of us on the committee if you are interested.

So as I mentioned in my last post, this reunion is going to be very different from past reunions. We will not be having a sit down dinner event. There are an awful lot of people that are still not traveling/socializing after the pandemic, and quite honestly, we just have not had enough people show interest in a big event to justify the expense for so few people. We always had the Friday night "Ice Breaker". And honestly?? It was always a huge success! Friday October 1st we will be participating in the parade, with a float representing the Class of 1981. We'd love to have you join us and ride on the float. They will also be having tours of the High School for anyone interested in checking out the school and how much it has changed since we roamed the halls. And I believe the Homecoming game is Friday night also. Saturday evening we will be having a get together at Charlie's in downtown Grayslake. There will probably be a small cover charge at the door to cover munchies, etc. It will be a cash bar. It's not a huge place, but there is a patio out back as well as the bar and tables. We'll do fine! I'm not certain of the times yet, we'll figure that out as the event gets closer. Please don't let the fact that we're not having a sit down dinner deter you. We'd love to see as many of you as possible. Can't stay all night?? That's fine! Come hang out for a bit. Anyone not local or not wanting to drive home afterwards, there is a hotel at 45/120. Can't wait to see you all!! More details to follow.....

Hello Class of 1981! Planning is moving forward with plans for a reunion this October. It will be the first weekend in October, which is Homecoming weekend. As I stated in an earlier post, this reunion is going to be VERY casual. To begin with, the Homecoming Parade will be Friday evening October 1st. Times will be posted later. But we plan on showing all of Grayslake, that the Class of 1981 is here. We will be having a float and we'd like all of you to be part of that. It's not the elaborate floats of our High School years, But Ryan Trucking and Grayslake Feed Sales will be sponsoring us. A truck will be pulling a large flatbed trailer, and we'd like to see as many of you as possible as passengers!!There will be room for a few dozen people, so get in the old GCHS Spirit and join us. More details later.

Sadly, there are quite a few classmates that we have lost since graduation. We would really like to honor these classmates at our reunion. We don't want to miss anyone. If you know of any, please message us with the names. Thank you all for your help.
