Week two is off to a great start for our Kirtland Regional Police Academy cadets! 💪

We’re proud to report that every cadet successfully passed the MCOLES Physical Fitness Diagnostic Test, with several cadets posting some very impressive numbers. Great job, everyone!

The cadets’ focus for the remainder of this week will be legal instruction, where they’ll continue developing the knowledge and legal foundation necessary for a successful career in law enforcement.

Yesterday marked the first day of the Kirtland Regional Police Academy — Class 63! 🚔💙 The cadets survived day one and a brutal physical fitness session, although I’m sure they are still questioning whether they ever actually found the right wall! 😂💪
Here’s to the beginning of a challenging but rewarding 17-week academy. The hard work has officially begun, and there’s a long road ahead. Best of luck to all the cadets — you’ve got this! 👮‍♂️👮‍♀️💙

The Village of Mackinaw City is seeking a Full Time Police Officer. Interested candidates should have a passion for public service, a community-oriented demeanor when assisting or interacting with the public, and an aptitude to enforce state and local laws equitably and justly. A $10,000 signing bonus is available to lateral transfers. The Village is also willing to sponsor candidates for the police academy.

A seasonal positional is open and available for candidates willing to work into December. This position may become recurring during summer months.

Kirtland Fi****ms Range provides public use hours. Check our website for the scheduled dates and times.

The Kirtland firing range includes a 25-yard pistol range, a 115-yard rifle and shotgun range. The range is open to the public and law enforcement agencies.

Today, our police academy recruits completed defensive spray exposure and training—an important part of preparing them for the realities of law enforcement service.

This training helps recruits understand the effects of OC spray firsthand while building confidence in their ability to continue functioning under stress. Following exposure, each recruit successfully worked through an obstacle - nice job Class 62!
