Nautical Institute Revalidation UPDATE:
As you are aware, the DPO certificate holders renewing their certificates will now be asked to demonstrate either NI-accredited Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for the required years OR complete the DP Refresher and Competency Assessment Course and have completed the mandatory 150 DP sea time days.
This is to inform you that the DP CPD Revalidation online exam booking is live now, and DPOs can now book and pay the exam fee by accessing their NI Alexisplatform account if they wish to take the CPD Revalidation exam remotely. Otherwise, the DPOs can also take the CPD revalidation exam at the NI-approved training centres.
Note that all the NI-approved training centres have access to the TestReach CPD Revalidation exam.
The remote exam booking guide and online application guide are available here.
Refresher Course: If the DPO has 30 days or more DP sea time, then the DP Refresher and Competency Assessment Course may be completed at any time, as required. If the DPO has no DP sea time or less than 30 days seatime, then the Revalidation Course may be completed up to six months before the revalidation dates set by the NI. If the DPO has less than 30 days DP sea time, the course will be valid for a period of 12 months only, at which time the DPO must apply to the NI for certificate revalidation.
Revalidation: The Revalidation Course may be completed up to six months before the revalidation date set by the NI. The course will be valid for a period of 12 months only, in which the DPO must send an application to the NI.
If the participant is completing the course for the first time, there is no minimum DP sea time requirement.
If the participant is completing the course for a second or subsequent time, a minimum of 28 DP sea time days will be required to revalidate. This DP time may be completed prior to or after the Revalidation Course.
Where a participant subsequently revalidates after taking the course by completion of the full sea time requirement of 150 DP sea time days that participant can then take the Revalidation Course again without a DP sea time requirement.
