What’s something that helps me survive the horse world?
Not caring.
Social media makes posting horses impossible. You will have hate comments, unnecessary opinions, incorrect opinions, hateful people leaving nasty comments with them not even knowing your name.
Let alone owning a horse, or even horse experience.
What’s my best advice I can give?
Don’t care.
Do it anyways.
Get real professional help, and ask questions to people you actually want to listen to.
The best “advice” I ever got was :
“If it’s not your horse why do you care”
“They can do whatever they want to THEIR horse”
And I started living by that. I can only worry about the horses in MY pasture.
MY vet bills.
MY silent struggles that I will not share.
MY lows.
The person leaving hurtful comments will never now your entire life story, what your day consists of, and what you are currently struggling with.
The other best advice:
“Don’t let someone’s negative energy into your bubble”
Be positive, you are only affecting yourself.
You can either smother yourself with negativity , or strive with your own positive energy.
What do I mean with this? When someone leaves a hate comment, they are openly being negative, they are vibrating low.
Negativity feels nasty, you think about it for the rest of your day, can ruin weeks , months and even years of your life.
This goes for both sides, the person making the comment and the person receiving the comment.
The horse world is disgusting. The amount of hate comments I see on young riders videos makes me sick.
They are not there to help you, they want you to feel how miserable they are.
Jealousy
Fear
Sadness
Anger
Hatred
Insecurities
I know why people leave hate comments.
If advice wasn’t asked for move on.
Cheer someone on that you don’t know.
Cheer someone on when you watch them struggle.
Support someone when they need help.
The worst part is I advise people to stay away. Most people aren’t cut out for this lifestyle. The highs outweigh the lows, but the low feelings are something you will never forget.
I hate to think someone going through lows is getting bashed on social media over something that doesn’t pertain to them.
We want new riders, we NEED new horse lovers. But if you aren’t smart, the cost of your mental health will out weigh the good.
Burn out is real. And most of the time burn out comes from other horse people hating on the people we should be supporting.
My dms are always open to questions. I want to help people not tear them down. I will not leave my opinions on videos when it is not asked for.
And I will support the 10 year old girl with a backwards bit, the cheapest saddle, the $500 horse, because we want you to be a part of this equine world. And they will learn more, they will get better, but negative comments will not lead to them being better.
We all start at 0 knowledge, no experience, we are constantly learning.
I don’t want you to quit.
Grow
Adapt
Learn
Advance
Support others
And love your horse. Because it’s YOUR horse. And you do whatever is best for them.
