Pacific Christian Academy

Pacific Christian Academy PCA was a private K-12 school operated by members. Hoping to reopen a K-3 after roof repair and more.

Follow-up Message:

Thank you to everyone who has reached out with questions and concerns regarding the closure of Pacific Christian Academy and the preschool. We understand how important this place has been to many generations of families, and we want to provide clarity in a simple and transparent way.

Pacific Christian Academy is required to follow its Articles of Incorporation and bylaws, which guide all decisions related to closure and the future of the property. These documents outline how the organization must operate and how remaining assets must be handled. The Board is committed to following these requirements fully and responsibly.

The decision to close was based on several factors, including declining enrollment, increasing operational costs, and significant facility needs that the organization does not have the resources to address. With the preschool closing, there is no remaining program to support ongoing expenses such as insurance, utilities, taxes, and maintenance of the property.

The Board is made up entirely of volunteers who have served without compensation. Many current and former members have dedicated years of service to supporting the school, and we are grateful for everyone who has contributed their time, energy, and resources over the years.

We know this news is difficult for many in the community, and we understand the strong feelings surrounding it. Our goal now is to ensure everything is handled carefully, legally, and in the best interest of the organization’s long-standing mission.

Thank you for your understanding, patience, and kindness during this transitional time.

Community Announcement

For more than 100 years, Pacific Christian Academy served as a place of faith, learning, and community in Graton. Generations of families were connected here — children grew up here, friendships were formed here, and the love of Christ was lived out in ways both big and small.

When the school closed its doors several years ago, it was done with the hope and intention that one day it might reopen. Many prayed, worked, and held space for that possibility. However, after much reflection, prayer, and thoughtful consideration, we now recognize that reopening is no longer possible.

As we honor what this place has meant to so many, we want to say clearly and with full hearts:
Thank you.
Thank you to the families who trusted us.
Thank you to the teachers who poured themselves into this community.
Thank you to the volunteers, pastors, parents, staff, and neighbors who cared, repaired, showed up, and loved the children here.
Thank you to everyone who remembers this place with warmth.

The time has now come to sell the property and lovingly close this chapter.

This decision was not made quickly or lightly. It comes after years of prayer, discussion, stewardship, and hope. We make it now with peace, believing that the legacy of this place lives on in the lives, families, and friendships it shaped.

If you have memories, photos, or stories from your time connected to Pacific Christian Academy, we would love for you to share them. Let us remember together — with gratitude.

With appreciation and blessing,
Pacific Christian Academy Board of Directors

A huge thank you is owed to Tony & Gloria Pires for Tony's recent donation of his time, dump fees, and physical labor. Tony and some men he hired spent a few days loading up and taking multiple trailer loads to the dump. This was stuff on the lower parking lot outside. They also had to endure several yellow jacket stings when multiple nests were disturbed. Gloria (Davis) is a PCA graduate and like so many others, lifelong PCA supporter. Her grandfather was one of the founders and she is a second generation attendee (her children and grandchildren also attended). Tony has supported the school for the past 30+ years and he has served as a board member in the past as has Gloria. Thank you both!

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Sylvann Nicholas. Sylvann touched the lives of so many with her kindness, warmth, and steadfast spirit. She will be deeply missed.

On a personal note, my mother-in-law was incredibly important to me. Her guidance, unconditional love, and support has left an indelible mark on my life, and I am forever grateful for our relationship and the time we shared.

We invite family and friends to join us in celebrating her life and cherishing the beautiful memories we shared.

Field got out of control with all the rain a month ago (up to 6 feet tall). Had to hire someone with a tractor with a mower attachment to mow it. He did a fantastic job. Here are some pics before/during/after. Enjoy!

A few nights ago we had a large tree in the upper parking lot fall, blocking access to our lower parking lot. When Jason Davis (son of Stan and Phyllis Davis) heard about that, he rushed down and has spent two days so far helping to clear the driveway and cut the tree up to help clean it up. THANK YOU to JASON! Your help is so much appreciated!

Lots of changes have been happening with our preschool, Graton Community Preschool. A few weeks ago we applied for, and received, an increase in our capacity from 30 to 42 children ages 2-5. What we accomplished (after a year of working on it) was to open up Room 4 which we are using for 4 year olds. Had to empty it of all "stuff", paint, install a sink, repair light fixtures, fix broken windows, repair termite damage around baseboards and windowsills (thank you to Gary Davis for this part!!) and get some new furniture plus utilize some older pieces from past PCA classrooms. But early August, this was accomplished and on August 15th it began filling up with 12 four year old children! The last piece was an even bigger project (and much more costly) which was to turn Room 3 into a brand new Infant Room. This room will serve children who are 12 months old up to 2+ until they are able to move into the regular Preschool Room (rooms 1 & 2 which are now one large room.) This license was separate and had more strict rules and regulations we had to follow. The largest piece was to install a separate new play space on the asphalt as they cannot play in the larger play area. It began full of stuff as well, and we had to paint, repair broken windows, replace the entire carpet, put in a small refrigerator, sink with hot water, new changing table, take out existing computer shelf and other shelving to make room for these items. And the new tables and chairs, and other furniture had to all be purchased as we have never served infants before. But yesterday the inspection happened and we passed!! We open up this new Infant Room next Tuesday, September 6. Please pray for us as we have new spaces available and need to fill them up. We can now say we have the largest preschool in all of West County. And once full, we will have 50 children on our campus. Praise God!

Just had our field mowed, w**d eating nearly completed, our sign was painted (and addition to add our preschool name), new fence installed for our new Toddler Room. Just wanted to show how beautiful things are looking. Thank you to Jim LaNier for the work on the sign. Beautiful work! And thank you to Gary Davis for helping to fix the window in Room 4 that had termite damage. Much appreciated!!
