The school where the teachers cared, the students didn't, and clubs were mandatory. At Sierra Mountain the lockers couldn't hold a freshman, but a single classroom could hold all the seniors. Teachers went by their first names and the janitor looked like Santa. It was a school where people gathered at the smoking section during breaks, walked to Empire Market for lunch, and tried to be somewhere else for last period. Sierra Mountain was a school full of character (or is that characters?) with a budget barely big enough to feed a family of five. There have been at least 3 versions of our little school, from an old house at the bus barn, to a new school out of town, to the old Grass Valley/Empire High school. Every one was good and bad, but all are remembered by anyone who went to them for even 1 day
