IUniversity Prep PTA

Congratulations! Our iUP PTSA has earned the President’s Challenge for strengthening our PTSA by hosting a family engagement event (or two!) that brought families together as well as increasing our membership numbers. As a virtual school, family engagement has its own challenges for our school, but we absolutely rose to the challenge and had two standout events this year.

The first was Lovepacs Snack Pack in November. A group of students and their families met up at a food truck park to pack up hundreds of snack packs, enjoy lunch, and play yard games. At the end, the boxes of snack packs were delivered directly to local schools with food-insecure students in north Dallas for the counselors to distribute as needed. For those unable to attend, they could still participate by purchasing snacks to be shipped to the coordinator to bring to the packing party. It was a great day of service and camaraderie!

Another event that engaged our community was Walk Across Texas during which teams of parents, faculty, and students tracked their steps for a set amount of time, both competing against each other and working toward the total earned by our school. In total, we logged 35,409.45 student miles and 9,643.65 adult miles and had some fun teamwork and competition along the way.

Come hungry, too! We’re excited to partner with El Taco Pionero, who will be onsite during Owl Expo serving up dinner, with a portion of all purchases donated back to our PTSA.

Plus, we’ll have a special opportunity for students and families to experience Spark!: Texas A&M PK-12 Engineering Education Outreach On the Road, featuring hands-on engineering activities designed to spark creativity and build foundational skills in technology and engineering.

It’s going to be a fun and engaging evening and we can't wait to see you there!

We are still looking to fill the following board positions: 1st Vice President Membership, 3rd Vice President Fundraising, and Communications Chair.

Please note: Individuals may run from the floor for any position. Parliamentarian, remaining committee chairs, and committee members will be appointed by the newly elected board at a later date.

Every donation, big or small, helps us show just how much our teachers are valued! (gift cards will be wrapped and distributed to teachers and staff as a random surprise. Gift cards cannot be sent to a specific teacher and personal notes are unable to be included.)

Sink your sweet tooth into Tiff's Treats fundraiser!

Yes, Girl Scout cookie season is over but that doesn't mean you can't have your cookie and eat it too. Ha! Get it?

Just mark your calendar for any day from May 7 to 20 or ALL of the days because iU Prep PTA is having a Tiff's Treats fundraiser. Use the code IUPPTA for your online order on the Tiff's Treats app or on their website.

Customers are encouraged to use the app or Tiff's Treats website to place orders for delivery or pickup in advance. However, in-store purchases at brick-and-mortar locations will be honored. Just mention the code IUPPTA or show the newsletter announcement of the fundraiser on your phone at the front counter.

Orders can be placed for same-day delivery or scheduled in advance, as long as they fall within the official campaign dates. The giveback code cannot be combined with other discounts or used for gift card purchases. The code is not case-sensitive; you can enter it in lower or uppercase at checkout.

PTSA needs you!

Students, have you considered becoming a board member of your PTSA? Students are welcome and encouraged to join. Help shape the organization by bringing firsthand perspectives to issues that affect you. You’ll build skills and gain leadership experience both of which will look great on a resume and in a top notch cover letter. Employers love to see volunteer experience in candidate applications. Don’t hesitate to ask us your questions either. Email us at [email protected] or ask us in person at Owl Expo on May 15. We’re even having a PTSA general meeting at 5:30 p.m. right before Owl Expo. Come to that too!
