Isabel Lane (sophomore) and Jesse Ellington (freshman) finished in third place and second place in their respective weight classes at the rusk high school powerlifting meet today!

Other lifters that did well in our first meet of the year were Trinity Miller, Joey Rea, Braelon McDaniel, and Haylee Jones!! All of them did great!

2020 GHS Powerlifting Update & Info:

1. We have 22 Boys and 9 Girl lifters on the HS powerlifting team this year!
2. Right now we have 5 meets on the schedule but we’ll probably pick up 2-3 more just to be safe - in the event that COVID has an impact on some of these meets.
3. We have about 30 8th-graders interested in powerlifting, which is exciting.
4. We are considering hosting a JH practice meet for these 8th-graders in May, and possibly another JH practice meet with one or two other schools before the end of school.
5. We will have two or three major fundraisers before the end of the school year, which the HS/8th-graders will use to raise funds for their uniforms and equipment for the 2021/2022 year.

We had three Sandiette Powerlifters qualify for the Region 3 Division 3 Powerlifting Meet. Kiera DeCluette, Stacy Perez, and Arionna Davis will compete in Fairfield on Saturday, and all three are Sophomores! Kyler Snell competed well this year, and came up 5lbs short of qualifying for the Boys Regional Meet - Kyler is only a freshman! Congrats to them all!

We will have a girls powerlifting meeting at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, August 6 at the field house. We'll hand out packets with workout schedules and we will talk about a few things.
**Lifting will be at 12:30 p.m. - Monday, Wednesday, Friday until school starts.

Grapeland Girls Powerlifting will start hitting the weights again on Monday, August 6th. Not sure what time we're meeting yet, but it will be posted on this page and our Instagram soon.

YETI RAFFLE!!! $10 per ticket! Limited amount of tickets being sold! The Grapeland Powerlifting teams are having this fundraiser for the next 4-5 week's.
*1st Draw Prize: 20 gallon Roadie Yeti Cooler, and Black Yeti hat.
*2nd Draw Prize: 5 gallon loadout cooler with transparent honeycomb lid, and 26 oz Yeti thermos.
Tickets can be purchased in the high school office, by contacting Coach Gayle at (936) 204-2830.

Grapeland finished 7th in the UIL's standings for the Lone Star Cup this year!

Congratulations to the Grapeland Boys Golf Team on winning the Class 2A State Championship! Very well deserved! We took 1st place as a team, Little Rick took 1st place individually, and we also broke the state 2A record of a 602 with a two-day team score of 600!
