Thank you, James Browder, a GMS student, and The Lot for supporting GEF! James placed a gumball machine at The Lot last year as part of his Experiential Learner Mastermind class. The Lot generously offered to donate their portion of the proceeds from the gumball machine to GEF. James presented the first donation check to GEF President, Stephanie Dodd, and GEF Grants Chair, Casey Curtis.

A recent moment in the Granville High School library beautifully illustrates the impact of the Granville Education Foundation’s support of our new 3D printers. While intended for student passion projects, we could only guess at potential uses. This week, a student named Hope saw an opportunity to help someone in our community. She recognized that a wheelchair user at her workplace struggled to reach the card reader independently and wondered if a solution could be created. Another student, Evan, took on the challenge with her, designing and printing a custom “card wand extender,” even matching it to the customer’s wheelchair. This small but meaningful innovation restored a sense of dignity and independence for the individual. Without any expectation of reward, these students demonstrated empathy, adaptability, and critical thinking in action—using technology not just to create, but to care.
