Visual Arts Making & Meaning (SAF) students welcomed Prof. Christian Faur to class for a presentation on his encaustic paintings today as the course begins its module on Portraits & Color Theory. Wonderful to learn about his Melody project & see two works from the series in person!

Congratulation to Professor of Visual Arts Micaela Vivero and collaborator Assistant Professor of Dance Marion Ramirez for a wonderful opening of “Mining the Qhapac Ñan” yesterday. Great evening of celebration!

Exhibición opening of Professor Micaela Vivero’s “Mining the Qhapaq Ñan” today at the Denison Museum from 4:30pm-6:30pm with a dance performance by Assistant Professor of Dance Marion Ramírez and an accompanying catalog written by Professor Emeriti of Art History and Visual Culture, Joy Sperling.

Today’s sneak peek of Micaela Vivero’s fascinating exhibition, Mining the Qhapaq Nan. Opening reception on Friday, Jan. 19th, 4:30pm at the Denison Museum!

Denison Visual Art’s Faculty & Staff are super proud of 2024 BFA Candidate Rita Costa whose work was selected for Fresh Looks, Eastern Michigan University’s juried biennial exhibition featuring graduating and upperclassmen undergraduates from around the region. The exhibition opens January 10th and runs through February 9th. With over 50 students representing 19 different universities across Michigan and Ohio, this exhibition showcases the varied talented voices of young artists as they begin their careers. Looking for a road trip to support Rita or an alum living nearby? A public reception for the show is Thursday January 18th from
4:30pm to 7:30pm that spans across EMU’s campus at University Gallery (900 Oakwood
St. Ypsilanti, MI 48197) and Ford Gallery (114

Winter break check in with Professor CLMN, who’s just got finished installing a show at in the P.E.O Foundation Gallery! Here Jstn is presenting a show titled “Objects in the Margins.” Jstn says, “This is a show of works consisting of primarily found objects and re-fired ceramic ready mades. Super fun to install and get to see this side of my practice all together and installed.”
