Hey guys! Annabel here, the new incoming President of the DUSFA. Dr. Shekha just informed me that he wanted to connect us via Skype with Natali Ramirez (our SFA contact) and a CIW worker during our next meeting. This is a very exciting opportunity for y'all to get a further understanding of what exactly DUSFA does and will give you a chance to talk to some of the people we work with (not for!). We will be meeting at 4:30 in Knapp 106 on April 19th. Please either comment on this post or shoot me an email at [email protected] if you'd like to be a part of this meeting.

Join us this Sunday, March 6th to head to Cbus for the CIW Workers' Voice Tour! If you are a Denison student or a Granville. Newark or Licking resident and ally and want to ride with us, please fill out this Google Form by Thursday at 10pm. It is important so that I can let the CIW and SFA how many vehicles/people we are bringing. We already have about 30 people signed up. Let's make our community's presence strong! Stand with us for farmworker rights, to end modern day slavery, to end exploitation and wage theft, to eradicate r**e and sexual harassment in Florida farm fields and beyond!
Please fill out the form as completely as you can - we realize it is geared towards Denison students - but anyone in our area is welcome to meet us at Denison sunday to go out!

Core Denison S/FA member caps off the national Week of Action and the 3rd Annual Denison Fair Food Festival with a report after delegations at two Wendy's in Newark, Ohio - both on the same stretch of highway that the Wendy's HQ in Dublin, Ohio is on! His commitment runs so deep that he can't resist breaking off to speak with one more family just before leaving! Just like first delegation today we were told to leave - but not after a funny situation where the cashier tells us if we "are the potato people I have to ask you to leave". Easy answer there! The manager comes out and is entirely sympathetic to the delegation and tells us to leave the letter, with over 300 Denison community members signatures standing with the CIW and demanding that Wendy's do the right thing and join the ,so that she can read it later. As we prepare to leave the letter, diners also can't resist wanting to know more and so we start talking with them. One is a union worker grabbing some lunch whose local hosted a screening of two weeks ago. A handful of flyers, buttons, stickers, and meaningful conversations later and the manager comes back out and demands we leave - so long empathy - but we'll be back!

The Denison S/FA caps off the national Week of Action and the 3rd Annual Denison Fair Food Festival with a delegation to the Wendy's that gets the most business from Denison students. With a letter signed by over 300 Denison community members standing with the Coalition of Immokalee Workers and demanding Wendy's join the Fair Food Program, the delegation barely made it in the door before being told to leave - but not before we snapped a couple of pics inside with chapter leaders while other members spoke to receptive customers in the store and parking lot, and letting them know that we'll be back!
