🎉 A Big Thank You to Hope Gas! 💙

On July 22, we were incredibly fortunate to welcome the “Keeping Hope Alive” volunteer team from Hope Gas to Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center as they helped us prepare for another exciting school year!

Their team spent the day:
🍽️ Relocating our Culinary Arts classroom to prepare for our renovation project
🎨 Painting our Highwall Classroom bathrooms

This marks the third consecutive year that Hope Gas has partnered with CGCC on a summertime improvement project, and we are truly grateful for their continued investment in our students, staff, and school community.

One of the most meaningful parts of the day was seeing the next generation of skilled workers giving back. Four of the seven Hope Gas Academy high school students who volunteered are former Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center students! They are spending their summer participating in Hope Gas's Academy high school program while giving back to the communities where they live and learned.
Watching our former students return to support the Career Center is a wonderful reminder of the impact that career and technical education, strong community partnerships, and workforce opportunities can have. We are incredibly proud of these young professionals and thankful to Hope Gas for investing in both their futures and our local communities.

Our talented Welding Technology teacher, Jason Cunningham, along with his students at Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center created custom home signs the last few days of school—crafted with precision, pride, and purpose in support of both of our local festivals this summer!

These unique pieces are being donated for raffle in support of our amazing local festivals:

🎶 West Virginia State Folk Festival – June 18–21

Since beginning his career at the Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center in 2012 as an instructor, Mr. Snyder has brought both his love of teaching and experience in automotive technology to numerous students. He and his students provide countless community service hours throughout the school year by servicing vehicles. His knowledge, leadership, and passion make a difference every single day.⭐

Gainer Student Award honors the founding director of the Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center, a man whose high standards and dedication to Career and Technical Education helped establish and shape our center. We are proud to recognize students who have gone above and beyond in their Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs to earn the prestigious Governor’s Workforce Credential (GWC) — a symbol of excellence in academics, technical skills, and work readiness, endorsed by the Governor of West Virginia.

To receive this honor, students must:
✅ Maintain a 3.0+ GPA
✅ Earn industry certification
✅ Score highly on technical assessments and portfolio reviews
