When people disappoint me, I sometimes get discouraged. That discouragement does not affect those who have disappointed me, it affects me and my ability to help others in the future.

“When it rains it pours” that is pretty much the description of my life right now.

Yet, I am still blessed.

My normal reaction of instant anxiety over the years is changing.

Because I know WHO is in charge.

1 Peter 5:7

7 Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

Joshua 1:9 “This is my command-be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

I choose to believe those versus and to be grateful. Last night, I was grateful for a hot shower. Today, I am grateful for a ride in the car in the sunshine.

Yesterday I talked about business being personal in some ways.

About a month ago, I was talking to a client who is having problems with a co-worker that is a top producer. Most everyone in the company puts up with this person because he makes the company so much money.

I asked my client “What happens when you go home at night to your wife and kids?” His response was “I am angry and my wife is not happy with me.” That’s personal.

This client’s well being and that of his family are being negatively affected by another person. Helping him realize that and address the issue is paramount for everyone in that business that has to deal with the disrupter. That’s personal.

This is why I do what I do. Our work life can affect our home life, our family and our health.

“It’s not personal, it’s business.”

That was a line from the movie The Godfather.

If you saw that movie, you realize that was an excuse that the main character used to rationalize hurting others.

Business IS personal. We do what we do because of our “Why” what ever that may be. That’s personal.

We bring the ethics and values many of which have been established in our personal lives to our businesses. Personal.

Much of who we are and how we support our families ties right back into our businesses. What is more personal than that?

So, when I meet people who I can connect with both personally and professionally, it is a wonderful thing.

Having an opportunity to meet IN PERSON and discuss more than just the usual “business” stuff deepens the relationship and therefore the trust. Trust makes it easier to refer.

Thank you to my east coast colleagues for the opportunity to get to know you better and mix a little business with some personal time.

Yesterday was a beautiful day filled with sunshine and a cool breeze. I pulled out our outdoor umbrella and worked outside from mid morning to late afternoon.

Being in nature is one of my top values. Being able to get some work done in that environment made my day just fly by!

Stuck in the middle seat between two strangers on a long plane ride, I sat listening to a book on Audible while taking notes. About 30 minutes into it, I got sleepy so I put my elbows on the tray in front of me with my face in my hands and tried to sleep. Not long after, the steward came by and asked if any of us needed anything. After getting my drink, I noticed I had ink on my hands. I ask my seat mate to let me out and made my way to the restroom to wash up.

I was horrified at what I saw in the mirror. Blue ink ALL OVER MY FACE. Not a little bit of ink either. It looked like I was attacked by….I don’t know, a wild pen!

No one said anything! Not the steward, my seat mates or the dozens of people I passed on the way to the restroom.

Maybe, they were too uncomfortable to tell me. Maybe, they didn’t really care enough to tell me or, maybe they thought it was funny.
It’s similar to what happens when we are behaving in a way that we may not notice but others do. We might come across as too brash or a bit too talkative and not enough listening. Do your co-workers know never to ask you for input if a quick decision is needed?

If anyone had an excuse...it was her.

Back in 2017 my husband and I were in Niagara Falls about to take the zip line when we saw this woman. Her friend saw that I was taking pictures and asked if I could film and email the video to them.

Bound to a wheelchair she had plenty of excuses not to do this, but she didn’t let anything hold her back.

I’m sure she checked with the experts to make sure it was safe, and then she took a leap of faith.

The first question most people ask me about my services is: "How much will this cost?"
I think the better question is.....
How much is not having a coach costing you already?

A Gallup Study from 2016 showed that people businesses that hired coaches saw the following results.
Increased sales, profit, and employee engagement. Lower employee turnover, fewer safety issues, and increased customer engagement.

Even if you and I are not a good fit for a coaching relationship, there is a coach out there that is. Find a coach and invest in yourself and your company.
