An area that we have BIG teacher feelings about at Lighthouse is that children with little, growing bodies should never be confined to a desk all day, every day, but have the flexibility of seating to meet one’s needs. Children should have numerous options of things to sit on that help support comfort, growth, longevity, ergonomics, in growing bodies.
Studies do show that children are much more successful with concentration, longevity of the day, with wiggles and so much more when they can advantage of creative seating.
Children with disabilities, autism, and ADHD, or children that have not grown to the stature that they are supposed to be per developmental milestones or children who are taller for their age, all with various growing stages, also are supported by creative and flexible seating.
At Lighthouse, you will see children sitting on floor seats, you will see them sitting on pillows or laying across pillows, you will see them vertically, writing, and horizontally writing, you will see them on balance seats.
Sitting should never be boring!
