🌟Team Spotlight!🌟 The one and only... Deborah Pratt! - Founder and Director, Kindermusik, Piano, Guitar, Voice
Deb is the Founder and Director of the Southern Oregon School of Music. She holds a a Master of Arts in Music Education plus Elementary Education certification from the University of Iowa and a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point. Deb's early teaching experience includes elementary music and also first and second grade. She and her husband moved to Grants Pass in June of 1999 and several months later she founded Music4Kids, a music studio featuring the Kindermusik program. Over the years the studio has grown to serve all ages and has become the Oregon School of Music. From 2008 - 2020 Deb also worked as a substitute teacher in our local school districts.
A church musician for many years, Deb currently plays keyboard with the River Valley Community Church worship team. As a vocal soloist she has performed with many choral/orchestra organizations including Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra, the University of Wisconsin-Madison Choral Union, the University of Iowa Women's Chorale, and the Josephine County Sing-Along Messiah. As a conductor, she directed the pit orchestra for the Grants Pass High School musical productions of "Hello, Dolly, "Fiddler on the Roof," and "The Sound of Music." She also conducted the RCC Rogue Chorus from 2013-2019. Under her direction the Rogue Chorus was invited to travel to to Carnegie Hall in New York City to sing Handel's Messiah with other choirs from around the world.
Deb and her husband, Jim, have three daughters and seven grandchildren. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, gardening, walking, visiting the Oregon coast, and, of course, playing music!
