6th grade and new student family night was a success. About 190 families attended! Students worked on opening lockers, met their teachers, and ate hot dogs. The Trojan class of 2031 has arrived!

Congratulations to Ms. Hall and the South MS Leadership Program for being one of 13 high schools and 4 middle schools in the state receiving recognition as a high achieving leadership program with a GOLD COUNCIL AWARD!!!

The award is sponsored by the Oregon Association of Student Councils (OASC) and sets high standards for student councils and leadership programs. South MS was recognized for creating encouraging activities and promoting inclusivity among students at our school. Even during our school year that was marked by school closure, distance learning, and hybrid schedules, our program and students did a phenomenal job in demonstrating servant leadership, resiliency, positivity, creativity, and strength in the face of such adversity.

Congratulations to Ms. Hall and the South MS 2020-2021 Leadership students!!!

Congratulations to Grants Pass High School senior, Jared O’Neil! Jared received a Beat the Odds Scholarship from Stand for Children. It’s a scholarship for students who feel empowered by telling their story.

Jared has gone from homeless to hopeful and he shares his life story with other students in hopes of encouraging them to work hard and seek help when they need it. Jared, who is an AVID student, exited himself out of the SPED program and took an AP course his senior year. He is now college-bound with plans to study physical therapy.

Congratulations Jared. We are so proud of you!
