The memorial service for Ethan Van Bochoven will be held at The Chapel (264 Jacksonville Road, Lincoln Park, New Jersey) on Saturday, Oct. 20, at 2 p.m. Guests will have the opportunity to express sympathy to the family at a repast, to be held immediately after the service. Please join us in praying for Ethan’s family as they grieve their loss and celebrate his life.

It is with deep sadness that I share with the Messiah College community that senior Ethan Van Bochoven passed away tragically in an automobile accident last evening. Messiah administrators have been in communication with Ethan’s family to stay connected with their immediate needs and how the College can best assist them as they navigate the practical and emotional demands of this difficult time.

Ethan was a music major with a commercial music concentration. He was active in the Messiah College worship community, serving in the Powerhouse Band and as a member of the Messiah College Symphony Orchestra. He also served as the manager of the men’s lacrosse team for two years.

The College will communicate further details regarding Ethan’s funeral service when they are confirmed. The Messiah community will offer a time of remembrance and prayer—open to all students and staff—on Sunday, Oct. 14 from 8-11 p.m. in Hostetter Chapel. Counselors and Messiah pastors will be available Sunday evening and through the week for students who would like to process or talk through this situation further.

Please remember to pray for Ethan’s family and friends, that they may experience God’s comfort, peace and guidance during this time of profound grief and loss.

Ethan is the son of our classmate Mike Van Bochoven. Please keep Mike, his wife Nancy, and their 2 sons in your prayers! Information about the services for Ethan will be posted here later this morning.
