Grant Public School District, as it operates today, was founded in the early 1900s to serve the students of Grant and the surrounding townships “one room” school houses. The district is in the southeast section of Newaygo County covering approximately 113 square miles. The lay of the land has rolling hills that house orchards, low lands consisting of muck fields, open fields for farming and forest
areas. The City of Grant, is found in the center of the district. Grant Public Schools has four educationally focused buildings consisting of a:
Primary Center, which houses preschool through first grade. Elementary containing second through fourth grade. Middle School where fifth grade through eighth grade are located. High School, serving ninth grade through twelfth grade. The district also has a Fine Arts Center with the capacity to hold a wide range of performances, with a seating capacity 790. This building serves our band, choir and theater programs extremely well throughout the year. Much of the athletic complex is on the grounds of the middle school, which includes the football, soccer, baseball and softball fields, as well as the track and cross country course. The competition gym for volleyball and basketball is also connected to the middle school.
