🌟 What a FIRST DAY! 🌟

What a wonderful first day of school at Highland Lakes Elementary! 💜💛 Our classrooms were filled with excitement, connection, curiosity and lots of learning!

Today was all about building our classroom communities and laying the foundation for a successful year. Students practiced routines and procedures, learned expectations, engaged in meaningful conversations, strengthened their listening and collaboration skills and jumped right into learning. ✏️📚

We saw students writing, thinking, questioning, problem-solving, sharing ideas and reflecting on their learning. Teachers were checking for understanding, celebrating positive choices and using those important positive checkpoints to reinforce effort, growth and the behaviors that help everyone learn.

The first day is about so much more than just getting settled. It’s about creating a culture where students feel known, valued, challenged and excited to learn. And today, our Mustangs showed us they are READY! 🐴✨

A HUGE thank you to our incredible teachers and staff for making the first day feel so welcoming, purposeful and joyful. ❤️ Thank you to our PTO and parents for joining in on today’s special day and for their love and support.

We are already looking forward to Day 2! We can’t wait to see all of our Mustangs back tomorrow for another day of learning, growing and making memories!

Come join us for your ACE orientation for the 2026-2027 school year. All Highland Lakes Elementary parents you will attend your meeting at the HLES campus on, Thursday, August 20th at 6 pm in the Highland Lakes Elementary Cafeteria. We can’t wait to see you there! 💜

💜💛 What a JOY it was to see our Mustangs tonight at Meet the Teacher! 🐴✨

There was something so special about seeing the excitement on our students’ faces as they walked through our doors, found their classrooms, greeted their teachers and reunited with friends. Their smiles, energy and enthusiasm is what makes Highland Lakes Elementary such a special place.

Thank you to all of our families who came out tonight and helped us kick off a new school year! And a very special thank you to our amazing teachers and staff for creating welcoming classrooms and making our students feel loved, valued, and ready to learn. Thank you to our transportation crew and also to all our volunteers from Ark! We greatly appreciate the hot dogs, school supplies, support & love you bring to us all.

We are SO excited for another year filled with learning, growing, friendships and making memories together! Here’s to an incredible year, Mustangs! 💜💛🐴

Mustang Families—Meet the Teacher is almost here! 🏫

Join us Monday, August 17 from 5:00–6:30 PM! Come meet your teacher, visit your classroom, grab some dinner, and get ready for a great first day!

🚗🚌 Please come ready to let your child’s teacher know how your child will get home:
• First day of school
• First week of school
• Remainder of the school year

📝 Registration Reminder: All required registration information must be complete before a class can be assigned. If you still have items to submit, please try to have those turned in before 10:00 AM Monday. If you can’t, please still come to Meet the Teacher—we want to see you!

The Power of Us! 💜

Today we joined forces with campuses across the district in order to learn and grow together. We practiced The Mustang Way- common experiences our students will have as they master standards that will help them meet and master grade level expectations.

When our students come back on Wednesday, expect them to experience:

🎯Lessons starting and ending with clear objectives.

🗣️👂Opportunities to turn and talk with their neighbors

✅Having quick checks to feel proud of their learning

And more!

We are ready to grow in 26-27!

The Power of Us!

We are eagerly preparing for Meet the Teacher on Monday at 5:00 as we practice the instructional strategies that will grow our students.

After convocation on Monday, we hopped to campus and taught one another about ways that keep our school moving with synergy.

Tuesday, we dove in to understand how our campus goals will help continue to raise our students’ engagement and learning!
