Caldwell JAM (Junior Appalachian Musicians) is an Arts Council program that teaches students from the age of 8 to 18 how to sing and play by ear in the ole-time Appalachian tradition. Held after school at four locations across the county, students can choose to learn guitar, fiddle, and/or mandolin. Classes are held weekly as after-school programs, and students are not required to attend public school to enroll.

🚖Student Drop-Off: 7:30–7:55 AM
Students arriving at 7:55 AM or later must be signed in by a parent/guardian in the front office.

⏰ Dismissal begins at 2:40 PM

💙 Kiss & Go Procedures💙

Front Car Rider Line:
Kindergarten, 1st Grade, and siblings of PK–1st Grade students should be dropped off and picked up at the front of the school.
Students should wait for a staff member to come to their vehicle before exiting.

Dudley Side Car Rider Line:
2nd–5th Grade students should be dropped off and picked up on the Dudley side of the building.

Important Reminders:
• Please use the designated car rider lines for all drop-off and pick-up.
• For the safety of our students and staff, please only drop students off in the designated car rider lines.
• Parents/guardians should remain in their vehicles while in the car rider line.
• Beginning Monday, August 31st, parents/guardians will no longer be permitted to walk students to class.
• No transportation changes will be accepted after 1:45 PM.

GFES Families,

We know adjusting to traffic flow changes can be frustrating. We appreciate your patience and willingness to adapt as we work through adjustments.

In cooperation with the Granite Falls Police Department, we are making some changes to our afternoon pickup traffic flow. These changes are required to keep Dudley Avenue clear so emergency vehicles can pass safely and local traffic stays moving. Our goal is to always ensure a safe afternoon pickup process.

Moving forward, parking on either side of Dudley Avenue will not be permitted. Parking on either side of Dudley Avenue prevents emergency vehicles from passing and disrupts traffic flow.

GFPD will help us to ensure the following changes:
Line-up time: The afternoon car rider line will not open until 2:00 PM. Please do not arrive or begin lining up prior to 2:00 PM.

No parking or extended idling on Dudley Avenue: Parking or waiting in either lane or on either side of Dudley Avenue while waiting to enter School Drive is not permitted.

We are continuing to work closely with GFPD to develop a smooth, long-term solution for afternoon pickup. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Please note the following drop-off and pick-up reminders:
🔹 Today was the last day for parents of 1st–5th grade students to walk their children into the building.
🔹 Friday is the last day for Kindergarten parents to walk their students into the building.
🚗 Drop-Off & Pick-Up Locations:
📍 Kindergarten & 1st Grade: Students will be dropped off and picked up in the front of the school.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 If K–1 students have older siblings in 2nd–5th grade, those older siblings will also be dropped off and picked up in the front.
📍 2nd–5th Grade: Students who do not have younger siblings in Kindergarten or 1st grade will be dropped off and picked up on the Dudley side.

GFES Open House Reminder

We can’t wait to see our students and families tomorrow, Thursday, August 20, from 4:00–6:00 PM.

✨ A few important reminders:

-Doors will open at 3:50 PM.
-Open House will be floating, so families may arrive anytime between 4:00–6:00 PM.
-Overflow parking will be available on the Dudley side, in the grass by the playground. Please see the attached picture for the parking location.
