PRINCIPAL SPOTLIGHT: Maria Losee! 📚✨

October is National Principals Month, and today we’re highlighting someone who brings incredible heart, literacy passion, and dedication to our students every single day at Monte Cristo Elementary!

Principal Losee began her teaching career in 1984 and has been a principal for 6 years. We are so grateful she chose the Granite Falls School District!

Get to know Principal Losee a little better! 👇
📖 Favorite Subject in School: "Definitely Reading and Writing! I had my nose in a book every minute... I used to love to make my own books and write plays and stories!"

🏝️ Surprise Fact: "I grew up on an island in Alaska—Kodiak. We did not have access to a television station... but my mother took me to the public library every single Saturday of my childhood!"

🧁 Favorite Way to Recharge: "I am a runner, I love to sew and belong to several quilting groups, I love to read... and my passion is baking! I love to bake new recipes and share treats with the school staff!"

✏️ Favorite Part of the Day: "Being out and about in the classrooms. Sometimes I even get to teach a writing workshop lesson! Being with students is everything!"

🌟 Her Wish for Students: "Become a reader and writer! Literacy is the lynchpin to ALL success, and the world is really at your fingertips when you are a reader and writer that thinks and is curious!"

The Ice Cream Social had a great turn out! 🍦🍦🍦I hope everyone found their favorite ice cream!

Thanks to everyone who came out to our meeting last night! Boosters play a crucial role in the experience of our kids and staff.

💭Did you know?💭

•Kids are welcome at meetings- and have fun!
•We’re a group of moms (dads are welcome!) who just want to help, and also have normal day jobs! Boosters isn’t just for parents with extra time to fill, we’re all different!
•Some of us are on the Board, but some are just here for backup support
•It’s okay if you can’t make every meeting
•There are plenty of ways to help if you are unable to attend meetings
•We always need event volunteers for our after school events!
•Our annual Harvest Bash has been running for more than 30 years, and relies heavily on our volunteers

There are so many ways to get involved! Reach out to us with any questions you may have and we hope to see you at a meeting!🐯

Our next meeting is October 12th at 5:30 at Monte Cristo Elementary.

📣 Our first Booster Meeting of the school year is tomorrow!

Mountain Way Elementary
5:30–7PM

We recognize that many of our families have kiddos attending both Monte Cristo and Mountain Way Elementary. Instead of asking families to attend two separate Booster meetings each month, we are excited to come together for one joint Booster meeting each month!

To make things easier and give both school communities a chance to host, our meetings will alternate between Mountain Way and Monte Cristo Elementary each month.

Come learn more about what Boosters is all about, discover ways to get involved, and find out how you can make a difference in our schools and for our students! 🧡🖤

And remember—joining Boosters does NOT mean you are committing to every meeting or every event! We know life is busy. Join when you can, help when you can, and be involved in whatever way works best for you and your family.
