Mountain Way Elementary first and second graders grew and the kindergartners harvested this spinach, lettuce and kale! The student do everything needed to grow veggies including watering from the water barrels. Now these veggies are in the kitchen getting cleaned and processed so student can eat them for lunch. How awesome is this!!??

Thank you Doni, Kelli and Chelsea for your willingness to clean and serve these greens. Thank you to the MWE staff and students who grew this beautiful produce and included the kitchen in this process. Such a win-win for all!

Due to a shortage of appropriate staffing, Granite Falls SD Child Nutrition will not be able to host the Summer Lunch program this year.

Lake Stevens School District will have one site ~ more information can be found at the following link:https://resources.finalsite.net/images/v1745624729/lkstevenswednetedu/wz3apqdhfvcgpzpxl0s3/summer-lunch-2025-EN-draft-03.pdf

The other option is to go to www.hungerfreewa.org/help/summermeals to find other Summer Lunch sites. Their list will continue to be updated the closer we get to summer.

We have been having fun at Granite Falls High School making some updated breakfast options. Today's special was a yogurt bowl that included: vanilla (low sugar/low fat) yogurt, strawberries, blueberries, sliced bananas topped with granola. We should have made more because they were gone really fast...so we will up our numbers next time.

Last week we made Sausage, Egg & Cheese breakfast sandwiches which included a packet of Sriracha on it. Those flew out of the kitchen too...so apparently Sriracha on a breakfast sandwich is a win!

As a reminder ~ breakfast is available at the HS each weekday beginning at 7am. Breakfast price is $2.25 and we have many breakfast choices available.

All Granite Falls Middle School students will get to have a breakfast before testing begins this morning (as well as on Thursday and next Tuesday/Thursday). This was made possible by the amazing kitchen crew ~ Viviann, Jill and Chelsea. These three ladies are pretty fabulous!

Thank you to some special 8th grade students that helped us set up 400 sacks for the breakfasts. Also to those students that grabbed an ice chest and rolled them from the cafeteria to the main building ~ thank you!

Lunch at Crossroads High School was delicious today. Marianne and Mila put a lot of love and pride in the food they create for the kids. Today's main entrรฉe was chicken and cheese quesadilla on locally made tortillas from Tortillas Con Madre...they are so good! Also chips with a fresh made black bean and corn salsa was available. And...a full array of fruits and vegetable with homemade ranch dressing to finish it off. Excellent work Marianne and Mila!

Something exciting happened yesterday at the Granite Falls Middle School Kitchen...a new freezer was installed! Thanks to an OSPI Breakfast Meals for Kids Grant the entire cost for the freezer and labor to install it was covered.

Viviann, Jill and Chelsea's old/current freezer is tiny and it is like a giant game of Jenga...they work hard to fit everything in it all the while hoping it doesn't all fall down. The old freezer will continue to be used but the new freezer will give them the extra room that is desperately needed. Feeling a whole lot of appreciation for being awarded this fantastic grant.
