Today we celebrate the great archangels! βš”οΈπŸ•ŠοΈ

St. Michael, the mighty leader of God's angels, whose name means "Who is like God?" Scripture shows him defending Heaven against evil, and for centuries Christians have called on him as their protector.

St. Gabriel, God's great messenger, whose name means "God is my strength." It was Gabriel who announced to Mary that she would be the mother of Jesus. He is honored as the patron of messengers and communication.

St. Raphael, the angel of healing, whose name means "God heals." In the Book of Tobit he guides young Tobias, protects him, and heals his father's blindness. He is the patron of travelers, the sick, and those who long for healing.

Three angels, one calling: to serve God and watch over His people. πŸͺ½

Today we celebrate St. Xantippa, an early Christian believed to have been converted through the preaching of St. Paul! According to ancient tradition she was a noblewoman in Spain who, once she heard the Gospel, gave herself completely to Christ. She is remembered alongside St. Polyxena as one of the early witnesses to the faith. ✝️

Today we are honoring Our Lady of Sorrows, the loving heart of our Blessed Mother! This devotion remembers the seven great sorrows Mary carried as the mother of Jesus, from the flight into Egypt to standing faithfully beneath the Cross. Because she knows what it is to grieve, she is a tender comfort to all who are hurting. πŸ’™

Back to school feels like Christmas season to me! I've always loved it so much. I love that homeschooling allows me to continue on the joys of the early school year with my kids. I don't think I've shared my curriculum picks for the year so I figured now is as good a time as any. πŸ“–

For both my 1st and 2nd grader we are using Good and the Beautiful for Language Arts, Math, and Handwriting. We used it last year as well and I love how easy it is to use, my kids love the visuals, I enjoy the app/video integration they provide, and my kids seem to connect with the way it teaches really well. So, these subjects are keepers for TGATB!

For Science we are using the Animals curriculum in Foundations of Science series from Tan Books. 🦁

For Faith Formation we are using a combination of a few things: Our Holy Faith from Tan Books, Manna & Mercy (for the 2nd grader) and the Faith Formation Starter Kit (for the 1st grader) from our catalogue, and the Great Adventure Bible Curriculum for elementary by Ascension Press.

For music we are using the Prodigies music program that is a combination of text book and video lessons. We started it last year and all of my kids love it, even the 2 year old! Art is a question mark right now, I will more than likely be throwing together my own art curriculum to use with them. 🎨

I'm still planning out our Morning Basket schedule that will include our read alouds and themed projects.

Let me know in the comments if we are using any of the same resources! I would love to hear from you.
