The small but mighty cadre of French students at Michiana Covenant Academy (MCA) in Granger earned national and regional honors in this spring’s National French Contest. The National
French Contest is an annual online exam with both listening and reading comprehension sections. MCA students in high school French levels 1, 2 and 3 joined thousands of others across the nation in participating in their respective contests.

Winners and awards for the French high school Level 1 exam are: Peter Wallace, National Certificate of Honor; Lorna Wallace, National Certificate of Honor and fifth place rank regionally; Alivia Kuhlmann, National Silver Medal and third place rank regionally; Kate Shank, National Silver Medal and second place rank regionally; Lydia Cabaltica, National Silver Medal and second place rank regionally; and Emilia Cabaltica, National Gold Medal and first place rank in the region.

Congratulations to all the hard working students and thank you to Madame Chrissie Lannan Kaufmann for her amazing teaching!

MCA is exploring a new art curriculum option that provides the content and techniques for students to develop their desire to create, and appreciate creation, a desire reflecting the image and character of God.

- This curriculum will:explore art history, focusing on historical artists and genres for students to appreciate and draw inspiration from
- Practice hands-on studio technique including the mediums of drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, and design all while learning and creating from many art styles
- Develop creative thinking skills and art analysis as well as an understanding of how and why artists create.

This potential curriculum would be geared for Junior High and High School students. We are currently gauging interest level before proceeding forward with this. If this is something you would be interested in for your 6-12 grader, please send me a message.
