Today we celebrated staff members who have reached some pretty incredible milestones in service to our schools and students.

That’s a lot of lives impacted and a lot of school days. We’re grateful you chose to spend so many of them with GPS. 🐾

Grandville Public Schools staff came together this morning for breakfast and our 2026–27 Staff Kickoff before heading into a day of preparation and professional development.

The move to Oakestown is a big one! After fourth grade, students from all seven of our elementary schools come together at Oakestown Intermediate for fifth and sixth grade.

Today, incoming students and families had a chance to explore the building, find classrooms and get a feel for their new school. Around almost every corner, sixth graders were volunteering to point families in the right direction and answer questions. 🤍

From house flags and lemonade to handshakes and friendly faces, Oakestown was ready to welcome its newest students.

We can’t wait to see this crew back when school begins Monday! 🐾

Class is in session for our teachers!

Today, we welcomed 15 new teachers for orientation. We’re glad to have them as Bulldogs and look forward to the knowledge, ideas and care they’ll bring to our students this year.

Congratulations to Central Elementary Principal Mike Gelmi on his appointment as assistant superintendent for human resources!

Mike will continue serving as principal of Central Elementary while providing leadership in key human resources areas.

Over the past two years, Mike has expanded his district-level experience through contract negotiations and by completing an additional administrative certification. Those experiences have helped prepare him for this new opportunity.

We're lucky to have Mike continuing to support students and staff both at Central Elementary and across Grandville Public Schools. Please join us in congratulating Mike! 🐾

Free summer meals are back! ☀️

All children 18 and under can receive free breakfast and lunch at Central Elementary, Monday through Wednesday each week. No registration or income requirements.

As students head into summer and another school year comes to a close, we’re also marking the end of an era. Yesterday, we celebrated Superintendent Roger Bearup and thanked him for his years of service to Grandville Public Schools.

Imagine walking into school and discovering you’ll spend the day teaming up with students from every grade level for games, challenges, creativity and fun. 🤩

That was the surprise waiting for students today during the first-ever Surprise Day at South!

Students spent the day in multi-age color teams participating in collaborative activities designed to strengthen connections across the building.

“Our hope was that students felt a sense of community, expanded friendships across the building, explored their creativity, and recognized all the different ways they are learning and growing,” Principal Darla England said.

“It truly was an awesome day!”
