What does it take to pull off a marching band doubleheader? Months of planning, dedicated volunteers and Dawg pride! 🐾

Thank you to 13 ON YOUR SIDE for highlighting our Grandville Marching Band and the amazing community of parents, boosters and volunteers who make it all possible. 🤍

Hosting a marching competition is one of those days where band kids and volunteers earn their sleep. But what if you decide to take on two in one day?

🥁 Throwback Thursday! In honor of marching band season, we’re taking it back to 1995–96, when the Grandville High School Marching Band traveled all the way to Tampa, Florida, to take part in the Outback Bowl festivities!

Who remembers this trip? We’d love to hear your memories! 🤍🐾

Student-led service project! 🤍 Members of Grandville High School’s Women’s Advancement in Leadership Club (WALC) gathered before school to make beaded bracelets for the Children’s Advocacy Center of Kent County.

The handmade bracelets feature messages of bravery, strength and encouragement and are given to children visiting the center to offer comfort and remind them they are supported.

WALC President Zoey Buchholz organized the service project. We love seeing our Bulldogs use their leadership skills to make a difference in the lives of others! 🐾

The windows became a gallery tonight for Art Walk. 🎨 Families wandered and students pointed out favorite pieces during Century Park Learning Center’s annual art spectacular.

It was such a fun way for our young artists to share their work and for families to spend an evening together!

“We all want to be able to be independent. We all want friends. We all want a reason to get up in the morning. We want to feel empowered that today I’m getting up and I’m going to be doing something good. That goes also for our friends with intellectual and developmental disabilities,” said Emily Mann, teacher and director of Grandville’s Transition Program.

MLive stopped by to see how a partnership between GVSU and Grandville gives everyone involved a sense of purpose.

You don’t have to have your future figured out to start exploring the possibilities. 💚🤍 Today, 32 GHS underclassmen visited Michigan State University for a campus tour. They got an up-close look at college life, from classrooms and campus landmarks to residence and recreation spaces.

Visits like this give students a chance to ask questions, notice what matters to them and begin imagining what they might want life after high school to look like.

Thanks to our FANTASTIC counseling team for giving students opportunities to explore the possibilities ahead!

Students in the Region III Transition Program are putting workplace skills into practice through a partnership with local nonprofit CompRenew. 💻

Through this CompRenew satellite program, students disassemble retired computers, remove components and sort the materials for recycling. ♻️ They’re gaining experience with tools, following processes and working together to complete a real-world job.

This partnership is a point of pride for both Grandville and CompRenew. We’re proud of the students putting their skills to work! 🐾

Art class in the city! 🎨 These GHS art students traded the classroom for downtown Grand Rapids, spending a day exploring ArtPrize with their art teachers.

They checked out artwork across the city, explored interactive exhibits and gathered plenty of creative inspiration along the way.

Haven’t made it downtown yet? There’s still time! ArtPrize continues through Saturday, Oct. 3.
