One of the ways singers and musicians can learn to release the songs of heaven is by rooting themselves in a priestly identity. In this clip from our True Worship study, Laura Hackett Park looks at the importance of stepping into this role.

Join Laura and other special guests for our upcoming True Worship online study, starting October 26th. For information and registration, visit ihopu.org/trueworship

In moments when self-centeredness and cold, offended love seem to be on the rise, there is a remarkable counterforce at work. Against the pull of human weaknesses and the challenges posed by sin, a passionate and forgiving love for one another will thrive, even amid increasing conflicts and offenses.

Ultimately, our lives rest in the secure hands of our faithful Lord. We are coins in his hands, to be spent as He desires.

He is the all-wise and all-knowing one who is actively involved in the building of His church.

Let us be careful to not live under false assumptions of where we think our lives should be destined.

The obvious costs of a disciple going to a foreign mission field are the loss of proximity
to family and the familiarity of the culture. Life is often comfortable for many at home
and moving to a land of a different language and culture is disruptive and difficult.
There are many good job opportunities that must be surrendered. The laborer must
forsake the normal status quo of the culture and embark on the journey Christ leads him
on, embracing the shame of a “wasted” life by some friends and family members.

Some notes from Romans class with @ davidsliker
First commandment reality births second commandment commitment: Love, tenderness, forgiveness, and fearless love.
Falling in love with Jesus and His calling sparks a sense of destiny, motivating us to make costly separations.
True ministry motivation lies in exalting and glorifying Jesus; understanding His person and work brings life and joy to Christian service.

There is nothing greater that has ever been given to man than God’s own righteousness through our union with Jesus providing us the ability to stand before Him without any fear, rejection, insecurity, shame, guilt, or inferiority.

We were made for more than merely “being together” – we were made to pursue God together. We can only experience the fullness of all that God desires to give to us in this age if we go somewhere in God with others.

"I am at war within myself. Jesus knows this, and knows how to win: by conquering my heart with His love, His affections, and His tenderness. My weapons in this war are fascination and friendship with the Bridegroom. My only way forward is to touch the depths of His heart, that He might be the fullness of my joy." –

When we say “yes” to Christ, we say yes to a path different from the world around us. We say “yes” to God’s restoration plan. God’s plan to make us like Him so that we can be with Him forever. We say “yes” to Christ in community and form what we call “The Church”, or as the first believers were named: The Called-Out Ones. We are a community of people on a different path than everyone else in the world. Different in that we are headed toward becoming like God; not withering into destruction.

How can you share Jesus with others?
So many of us want to tell friends and family about Jesus, but we don't have the words or the confidence necessary. It begins with knowing Him more deeply, beholding Him, and hearing His voice. The central focus of our training at IHOPU is on Jesus and His Word. Consider joining us in January, here in KC or from your hometown. Learn more at ihopu.org/messengers

“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”

—Matthew 7:24-27

When you find yourself in a season that feels dry and life isn’t satisfying, where do you search for comfort and hope? In David’d life, he turned to the Lord and declared bold truths about who the Lord is in His life!

What does it mean to be a messenger?

Is it measured by the size of your audience or the number of likes? Is it defined by what you say or where you proclaim the gospel? Or is it determined by the sacrifice and surrender you embrace?

In small, quiet moments of our lives when we are spent, tired, worn out, frustrated, and nothing seems to be working quite like we’d want it to work, we find ourselves in the worst possible setting to evaluate “how it’s going”, which we often based on “how we’re feeling” about “how we are doing”. Paul understood that even in our “best” moments (“For I know nothing against myself…”) we are not equipped to evaluate our lives with the precision, care, mercy, tenderness, and truth that the Man with the eyes like a flame of fire can and does.

08/21/2023

No one else sees what God can see, nor does anyone see the way that God sees – but beyond that, nothing that anyone else sees will factor into His final evaluation of our lives, choices, and motives.

08/18/2023

Our joy is wrapped into our confidence that God will do His part – but also that God is doing His part, despite our inadequacies, deficiencies, and immaturities.
