We can't wait to see everyone tomorrow, Thursday, August 20th from 5:00-7:00pm at our Back to School event. Some things to keep in mind, first, we want all families to join us, even if you haven't received confirmation that your student is fully enrolled. If your student isn't fully enrolled they will not have a teacher assigned to them yet. Please bring any enrollment documentation to the building from 9-3 on Friday and Monday and we can try to get enrollment complete before school starts.

The sessions to meet your students teachers and learn about our curriculum, schedule and so much more, will run as follows:

Session 1 - 5:00 - 5:20 pm

Session 2 - 5:30 - 5:50 pm

Session 3 - 6:00 - 6:20 pm

Please plan to arrive at a time that will allow you to attend a session. We will also have car placards, nutrition services, LINC and more to share back to school and community information.

We will see you soon!!

Check This Out!

DMH invites Missourians to join our Digital Detox Challenge this August! It’s not anti-tech; it’s healthy tech. It’s not just about your social media. It’s about how technology and device use impacts your overall health – at home and work.

We live in a hyper-connected world. Yet, anxiety, depression, loneliness and burnout are at an all-time high. Many people find themselves tethered to devices. Sometimes out of necessity, preference or habit. Device use can change our eyesight, hearing, sleep, posture and relationships. Attention span shortens, perpetual distraction feels like the norm, and our relationships can suffer without giving people our undivided attention and making quality human connection.

While technology can power creativity and innovation at work, it can also be a costly distraction. Technostress is any negative impact on attitudes, thoughts, behaviors, or body physiology that is caused either directly or indirectly by technology. Information overload, blurring of personal life during work hours, distractions that impact productivity, or ergonomic stress that leads to chronic health conditions can impact employees and teams in today’s workplaces.

Happy half way through summer, more or less. We are so excited to have all of our families in the building soon. Construction is moving along and the building is looking amazing!

Some things we want to share at this time:

Our Back to School night will be August 20th from 5:00pm-7:00pm. We will just be getting things unpacked from our construction so please give our staff some grace if classrooms don't look entirely school ready at this point. We will be working hard to get everything ready for the first day.

First Day of School is August 25th. This is the only day you will be able to walk your student to their class. Doors will open at 8:45am

Our district webpage is a huge resource for bus stop time and stops and the district supply list. Go to grandviewc4.net

We will be posting teachers on August 17th to completed portals so please make sure your students enrollment is complete.

Enrollment Reminders:

If you have received an email that your student is enrolled or if you have submitted your students enrollment you can disregard this section. However, you are always welcome to email [email protected] to see where you are at in the enrollment process. We are currently viewing paperwork that was submitted 7/16 and on.

If you have not started enrollment please do that now. Below are the following cut off dates:

Transportation: if your student will be riding the bus their enrollment must be completed by August 7th to prevent any delays on being routed for the first day of school

First Day of School: Enrollment must be completed by August 14th to ensure your student can start on the 1st day of school. Please remember that transportation will not be guaranteed if your student's enrollment isn't approved until after August 7th.

Remember to email [email protected] or call 816-316-5525 with any enrollment questions and needs. Please know that we are getting through everything as quickly as we can but it may be a few days before you hear from us. If you are working on an affidavit or waiver please reach out to [email protected] with any questions.

WE CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOU ALL SOON!!!

Just because it is summer, that doesn't mean we don't know someone that could use a check in. This article is great for some conversation starters.

Checking with someone you haven't seen in a while:
You were on my mind, and I wanted to reach out.
I’ve been thinking about you, and I want to check in.
Hi, it’s been a minute. I wanted to make sure you’re doing okay.
Long time no see! What’s been going on?
I haven’t seen you in a while! How have you been?
How are you? How’s the family doing?

Checking in with someone going through a hard time:
How are you doing?
How are you holding up since ____________?
Hey, I’m just checking in. Please text/call me back when you get this.
Hey, I heard about _________. Do you want to talk about it?
Hey, I know there’s been a lot going on. I just want to make sure you’re good.

Checking in with a group of friends, teammates, or others:
Hey! How is everyone doing?
Hey, is everyone doing alright?
Hi everyone! Did you all see ____________? What are your thoughts about it?
Hey, is anyone else feeling [sad/mad/exhausted] by ____________?
Did anybody else hear about ____________? How are you dealing with it?

Support starts with a conversation. Use these mental health check-in ideas to connect with people you care about.
