John brings home the first 1st place trophy of the year. 1, 2, 3 in finals of USX was good enough to bring it home. Next weekend is the Grandview Novice Debate Invitational. If you want to help out and judge, let me know.

BSS is in the books. One tournament down, many more to go. Brought home 2 trophies today. John takes 3rd in USX and loses in quarters of LD. Had a Duo and OO in sems. Lot of work still to do, but a good start.

Since most of you prefer Twitter, you can now follow Grandview High School NFL either here, or on Twitter , or both. I will try to utilize both Twitter and Facebook more next year to pass on information. Also look for us to utilize YouTube more as well.

John will either be 4th or 5th in the nation. He lost Round 12. NFL finals and awards are being webcast at nflnationals.org. Awards are tomorrow night at 5pm. I believe John is the first ever Grandview student to finish in the top 6 of an event at nationals. We are bringing a trophy home!!!

This just keeps getting better!! John is now in the top 7 in the nation!!! Round 11 starts at 4:00 and he will be debating the best way to reign in deficit spending: tax increases or reduce spending.

John won Round 9, and is now in the Top 13!! He is guaranteed an award. 7-14 get a plaque and 1-6 get trophies. Round 10 is about a college education being a good investment, and we get to affirm. The neg ground on this topic sucks, so I am hopeful. I will update in about 90 minutes when we know results.

John is in the Top 24. He is debating the debt ceiling right now, and if he wins he gets an award. Heck of a good run for a sophomore!!

41 left and John is one of them. Round 8 is starting now. He's debating the Arab-Israeli compromise. I'll update when they post.

John took his first down in Round 6. He's debating Round 7 now about the mortgage market 69 people left of the more than 575 that started. I'll post updates as we get them.

Day 3 is done and John is doing quite well. 5 rounds of Supplemental Debate in the books, and 5 wins for John. There were over 500 when we started, and we are down to 116. Only 22 undefeateds. It was an exciting day for the KC area. 2 finalists in interp and a CX team that is still kicking. I'll update tomorrow after a couple of rounds.

John didn't advance. I'll get scores tomorrow probably. The good news...he now enters Supplemental Debate which is an event I think he can so really well in. Back to the hotel to prep the resolutions.

Day 2 of competition is in the books. John gave 4 more speeches today, so he feels pretty good about his chances. We are at the posting party now waiting. Lots of Missouri kids broke to Round 7. Go to nflnationals.org to see break lists. I'll post an update when postings go up.
