📣Today is FACULTY FRIDAY, and we are so excited to honor Ms. Katie Kindle!!! Ms. Kindle teaches Entrepreneurship class at GSMS, a brand new CTE class that focuses on business start-up skills, marketing, and management. Our students will be opening their very own student-led coffee shop, “Brave Brew”, later this fall, and we cannot wait to see their hard work in action! Congrats Ms. Kindle on “bravely” taking on this challenge and being our Faculty Friday teacher! ☕️ 🧡 🖤

Another great WOW Wednesday to share this week from Mrs. Pettijohn’s Art class!

In the Art 2 class, students applied their mathematical skills to solve a mystery coordinate grid. Throughout the project, the students explored the elements of art and learned how different lines can convey various emotions, culminating in the creation of an expressive emotion band.

🥳 We are SO excited to introduce a new and fun way to recognize our outstanding faculty: FACULTY Fridays! Every Friday we will showcase the amazing teaching going on at GSMS.

Our first Faculty Friday recognition goes to Mr. Joe Mendez! Mr. Mendez is our Woodshop teacher and is beloved by both students and colleagues alike. He holds our students to the highest standards all while supporting them and letting them know how much he cares. He is a staple at every game and extracurricular activity at GSMS, further evidence of his love and commitment to his students. Mrs. Moffatt and Coach Lewis enjoyed surprising him with a free Sonic drink and certificate on this Faculty Friday! Congratulations Mr. Mendez on this Fun Friday recognition! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

For this week’s WOW Wednesday, we are excited to showcase the wonderful things happening in Ms. Park’s 7th grade Reading Language Arts class. Since the start of the school year, her students have been creating “All About Me” essays. Today, the students received an illustration of a blank t-shirt and decorated it with images that represented details from their essays. Once completed these creative “All About Me” projects will be proudly displayed in the hallway for all to enjoy! Just another example of our students doing awesome work on a WOW Wednesday! 👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼

It’s WOW Wednesday!!!! Check out what our 6th graders have been doing in Mrs. Rhodes’ science classes below!👇🏻 STEM challenge accepted!

Building marshmallow towers was not only fun but also taught important skills in order to improve the strength and height of the structure.

Mrs. Rhodes shared the following about this activity by saying, “ The main goal is for students to see that successful engineering involves using science, concepts, teamwork, problem-solving, testing, and learning from mistakes-not simply building the tallest tower on the first try.”
