Happy National Apprenticeship Week! πβ¨
At Steepletown, weβve seen how powerful Registered Apprenticeships can be in creating real pathways into early childhood education π±πΆπ½π. Through our ECE Apprenticeship Program, individuals are able to earn while they learn πΌπ‘βgaining paid, hands-on experience, classroom instruction, mentorship π€, and nationally recognized credentials π
. But what truly makes this model impactful is the level of support behind it β€οΈ.
Each apprentice is paired with a coach who meets with them one-on-one π₯, helping guide them through the CDA process, navigate challenges, and stay on track while balancing full-time work and life responsibilities βοΈπ§ . Combined with wraparound supports and wage growth tied to skill development ππ°, apprenticeships create opportunities that are both accessible and sustainable πβ
.
Over the past five years, Steepletown has supported expanded access to the ECE field, particularly through initiatives like our Spanish-language cohort ππ£οΈ. This cohort was designed to support passionate early educators who have historically faced barriers in accessing CDA credentialing due to language. In partnership with the Literacy Center of West Michigan π€, apprentices in this cohort received ESL instruction alongside their training, helping them build both the language and professional skills needed to succeed π¬π.
Through partnerships with Ready by Five and access to Child and Family Advocates π¨βπ©βπ§βπ¦, apprentices also grow in their understanding of community resources π§, strengthening not only their professional skills but their ability to support the families they serve π.
This work is about more than workforce developmentβitβs about building stronger systems of support for children, families, and educators ποΈβ€οΈ. Weβre proud to support the educators shaping the next generation! ππ©π½βπ«π¨πΎβπ«
