I was BEYOND excited to see this book because this is a lesser represented culture, AND a book about a learning a lesser known instrument. Lalai learns the bilembaotuyan from her grandfather, Tåtan Bihu. There is also a theme of grief as her grandfather is ill.
I ordered this one right from the University of Guam press and it came very quickly. Click here to check it out:https://uogpress.com/products/i-lalai-i-bilembaotuyan

I'm so excited to be part of The Elementary Music Summitt. It's a FREE conference run July 6-10 with 30 other amazing speakers. Click here to find out more: https://bit.ly/CulturalConnetions2026
I'll be presenting Creating Cultural Connections which is about creating connections in the music classroom. Music is about community. The classroom community, the community we live in, and the global community. This session will focus on using books, video, sound recordings, and other available resources to create cultural connections to cultures across the globe in your music classroom. We will discuss finding resources, evaluation of sources, and sources to examine that you may not have considered before.

I’d challenge those people that immediately write this off to read the actual blog post first. https://mrsstouffersmusicroom.com/gender-neutral-in-music-class/
When the school year closes, we reflect on our previous year and look forward to our time to recharge. We also tend to think ahead for next year. June is Pride Month and a great time to reflect on our current practices with regard to gendered practices in the classroom. You'll see how removing some gendered practices actually benefits ALL our students.

This sweet book is singable, comes with a QR code with audio and video links. This is a sweet little book saying goodnight to nature and the animals. Definitely have added it to my child's collection, and it will be a great option for Kindergarten working on loud and quiet. Click here to check it out: https://amzn.to/4v0mkf

If the Sunday Scaries are a thing for you, you aren't alone. You love the kids and you love the music, but you dread the chaos.
My friend, Jeanette from The Happy Music Teacher Academy, created something called The Sunday Scaries Reset for exactly this reason. It’s a 5-day bootcamp designed to help you turn your classroom chaos into an asset by leaning into the natural chaos in your classroom and learning to lead it with confidence.
Because we are friends, she’s given me an exclusive link to share with my community so you can claim your guest pass completely FREE!
