A survey crew with the Itasca County Soil and Water Conservation District aquatic invasive species program found zebra mussels in the LaRue Mine Pit near Nashwauk.

The DNR inspected the mine pit and found both immature and adult zebra mussels. Additional details in the link in comments.

Save the date for an upcoming AIS Detectors webinar. "Restoring our Underwater Forests: Can Native Revegetation Enhance Invasion Resistance in Lakes?" on Wednesday, September 9 at 01:00 PM

Researchers will discuss ongoing work conducting in-lake restoration trials reintroducing native plants in partnership with local resources managers. The project's goal is to broaden the state's AIS management toolbox beyond herbicide treatments, ultimately enabling the establishment of more invader-resistant lake plant communities across Minnesota with more resilient revegetation efforts.
