Look who showed up today. 🙌

One of our badass powerlifting team members and their mom rolled up with an incredible haul for the Shame Free Pantry out front of Catalyst — and the shelves are full again, at least for a minute.

Because here’s the truth: we’re refilling this thing and watching it empty out multiple times a day, whenever we’ve got the supplies to keep up. That’s not a complaint — that’s just what it means to live in a neighborhood where people need each other. We take care of us.

If you’ve got it in you to help keep it stocked, here’s what our neighbors are asking for most:

Food
- Canned goods with pull tabs (soups, beans, tuna, chicken, fruit, veggies)
- Nut or sunflower butter, especially individual pouches
- Goober PB&J mix
- Snack bars, granola bars, protein bars
- Crackers, dried fruit, trail mix
- Single-serve cereal or oatmeal cups
- Pop-top ravioli
- Fruit cups, applesauce pouches

Non-food essentials
- Socks
- Hygiene items (menstrual products, travel toothpaste/toothbrush, wipes, deodorant)
- Hand sanitizer, band-aids, basic first aid
- Ziploc bags or small containers

Pet items
- Cat food
- Dog food

Drop-offs welcome anytime — message us here or on IG to coordinate, or swing by during open hours Thursdays, 8am–5pm.

Thank you to our powerlifting fam for showing up like this. This is what it looks like when a gym is more than a gym. Thank you for being part of that. 💜

Functional Range Conditioning, or FRC, is a training system which focuses on three main objectives: mobility development, joint strength, and body control.

Learning FRC is learning how your joints function outside of compensation patterns, identifying your existing range of motion, and in time expanding your ability to move through those ranges with control. You're building strength AND mobility at the same time - not one at the expense of the other.

Why it matters:
- Builds joint health and longevity, not just flexibility
- Strengthens the end ranges most training ignores
- Improves body awareness and control
- Great for hypermobile bodies, old injuries, and anyone tired of feeling stiff and creaky

Whether you're rehabbing something, chasing a new lift, or just want to move through life without your hips complaining quite so much — FRC meets you where you are.

We have two classes every Monday evening. 55+ from 4:30pm-5:30pm and all ages from 5:30pm-6:30pm.

Come try a class. Your joints will thank you!

Shoutout to Fizzy Tuital for the excellent videography work that made this video possible!

We hope to see you and your creations on Monday!

September is full of opportunities to connect at Catalyst in addition to all of our usual functional movement classes!

We've got craft night, jam night, two pottery workshops, and we're bringing the Catalyst spirit out to Transfuse Night Market for the first time!

Caught on camera today: restocking the Shame Free Pantry, which was empty again within hours. This little box outside Catalyst has become a small lifeline for so many folks in Alger Heights, and honestly, watching it empty out that fast is equal parts heartbreaking and affirming that we need to stay committed to keeping it stocked as consistently as possible.

Want to be part of that? Here’s what helps most right now:

Food
- Canned goods with pull tabs (soups, beans, tuna, chicken, fruit, veggies)
- Peanut, almond, or sunflower butter (pouches & individual servings especially)
- Individual snack packs, granola bars, protein bars
- Sleeves of crackers, dried fruit & trail mix
- Single-serve cereal or oatmeal cups
- Bottled water & bottled Gatorade
- Ready-to-eat: pop-top ravioli, fruit cups, applesauce pouches

Non-food Essentials
- Socks — still the #1 most requested item!!!
- Hygiene items (menstrual products, travel toothpaste/toothbrush, wipes, deodorant)
- Hand sanitizer, band-aids, basic first aid
- Ziploc bags or small containers

Pet Items
- Cat food
- Dog food

Drop-offs welcome anytime — message us on Facebook or Instagram to coordinate, or swing by during open hours on Thursdays, from 8am–5pm.

We take care of us. Thank you for being part of that. ❤️
