There's a space in Grand Rapids where teens and young adults can go to feel safe, understood, and seek help from counselors if they need support called 3rdchair.

COVID-19 may continue...but so do we! Now, perhaps more than ever, the work of counselors and clients is vitally important. Long term, communal hardship (like a global pandemic) can pose lasting impact on mental, emotional, social, and physical health. You don't need to manage it alone!

If you find yourself or someone you know in need of extra support during this time, please know that we are here and ready to journey with you. Our staff (and bulldogs!) are taking significant precautions to make sure our office is safe for everyone and we continue to offer telehealth counseling services, as well.

Good morning 3rdchair family and usually I leave posting to more talented ones than I yet at times there is simple joy - simple thankfulness - for me driving to work and seeing the Starbucks drive thru locations are all now back up and open was one of those moments and had to share - and thank you again for sharing that 3rdchair continues to be open & serving the young adults of West Michigan during this very messy time of life - wishing you all peace - from Scott, director 3rdchair

We mentioned they’re a royal bunch down on the farm. This is Princess Meaghan.

The days have been blending together a bit, and we’ve found it really helpful to set our intentions for the week. This week we’re going to focus on gratitude.

Have you heard of square breathing? This kind of breath work can help decrease stress in your body. Let’s practice together:

Begin by exhaling all of your air out

• Now inhale through your nose to a slow count of 4

• Pause and hold at the top of the breath for a count of 4

• Next, gently exhale through your mouth for a count of 4

• Finally at the bottom of the breath, pause and hold for the count of 4

The neat thing about square breathing is that you can do it anywhere. Take a few moments today to try it and let us know what you think. As always, we are here for you.
